Ok well awhile ago I came across this small program that connected people together online so they could play D&D through text. Does anyone know where I can find something like this real time role playing not e-mail rpging but text almost like chat room based true rpging?

Try looking into the Wizards of The Coast website for answers. I'm sure they have a ton of resources. I know for sure they have blank Character Sheets, mapmakers, and a few monster generators. That's how I was born -.- Good luck!

A friend of mine...a fellow WoW'er is trying to get something together. It would be through TeamSpeak or Ventrillo though...not a text/chat based. I havent loggen into WoW in a few weeks but last I talked to her she wasn't having much luck getting enough peeps together. If interested, reply and I'll let her know and may be able to link contact info. I've seen things, you...people, wouldn't believe... . Attack ships on fire, off the shoulder of Orion... . My guild has started several role play games in the past - typically we've played over the forums, if not through our guild chat program. If you have a website and forums available to you, just find a chat mod (we used phpMyChat) and install it to your site. Alternatively, there are plenty of free chat programs you can download, like mIRC where you can create your own chat room for gaming or join one someone else has already created. White Wolf Chat might also be worth a look. Hope this helps with what you are looking for - good luck on your search!

I'm not sure if this is what your talking about, but take a look at Fantasy Grounds. It doesn't have voice/chat capabilities, but with Vent or TS it could easily be done. Hope this helps.
