Id take gameplay over graphics any day.

When I was 6 the only video game on offer was that tennis game on a black TV screen and a vertical line to control to hit a ball.

Great gameplay will overcome graphics every time so judging a mmog on the basis of promo videos, screenshots and hype will never do

if you want to keep people coming back for more and convince investors you know what you are doing gameplay is king.

Well said and fully seconded. Also the reason why many people are wowheads for life.

AoC got me licking the scantily dressed and snowy mountain topped pixels of my screen, LOTRO had me shed tears of emoness when traveling through the Trollshaws and entering Rivendel at sunset. But the latter was lacking pvp and the former lacked too much to mention. I'll trade in eye candy for fun gameplay and true immersion any day of the week.

Though I secretly hope that Mythic will have somehing up their sleeve in the lighting / world texture departments to please the hell out of us shortly after release.

The devs did, in fact, disable most graphical options for the beta testers.  Most of the screenshots you see are not remotely as good as they could be for that reason.

Also, judging a game's look by seeing it in pictures is kind of silly.  You ought to see it move.

When it comes down to it, I'm glad you're not around.  Folks with a decent idea of what makes a good game are going to come to WAR like crazy, I'm reasonably certain.  I try not to be a total WARhead, but since playing like mad in beta I'm really jazzed for release. 

Does it look like WoW?  No.  Are the styles remotely similar?  Not really.  Is everything covered over with so many layers of shaders that your computer will scream to a halt whenever you get in a big RvR battle a'la Age of Conan?  Absolutely not.  It's good-looking, it feels good to play, it's fun, and you're missing out.  Good riddance to bad rubbish, judging a game entirely on how it looks.  You ought to be ashamed of yourself, OP.

This has to be a joke thread, you can't possibly be complaining about the things you are mentioning. The look and feel of the game is quite beautiful, but the textures and draw distance and settings for graphics are not fully released in beta to adjust! You look at any number of threads about graphics and you'll realize this. It is just stupid to not even pre-order and head-start and see for yourself just because you don't like the graphics during BETA. They will be much sharper come release!

Textures look very unmeshed and out of place a lot, and the view distance isn't the greatest. I mean, if your going to have bad graphics, at least make the view distance decent. I actually enjoy backround scenary.

 

All i wish is that they could keep up with 2008, maybe even 7 graphics, and not go for the old, poorly textured graphics plan WoW had. I'm sure there was one way you could figure out that many people can play and still have the game look good.

 

Looking at a game that could have looked the same in 2004-6 does not impress me. Use the new software people! I don't mean Age of Conan software because even their graphics get tiring to look at, but at least something decent enough to WANT to look at.

You can take screenshots of pretty much any game that look less than great... no game is going to look good from every angle.  Heck you can take lots of pics of irl that don't look good too.

At least  for me graphics isnt everything ffs whole PC gaming industry turned out  to be just cosmetics no great games that had to offer u some good xpirience old RPG`s I`ve palyed etc. look at  the AOC it got great graphics and what game is so ............that I even dont wanna start that topic again,animations and whole details in beta WAR are on medium I think some1 sayd check Youtube and was correct when u c latest vids people xplaine that in more then few vids I personaly like WAR cause of its lore and I hope for some nice PVP game dont xpect miracles but if U dont like game dont buy it I`m sure that u got more than few MMO`s out there with nice graphics
