I'm not saying DF will be a big disaster like AoC, I'm just pointing out that maybe it's a bit presumptius to think that now that the Video is here, everyone will just praise DF in all its glory.
Are we not allowed to criticize the game anymore, just because the Video is here? Can't we bring up valid points? Like the missing UI in the video? |

So I guess the vaporware discussion is over then
Personally, I liked the video a lot. If you didn't like the video, that is fine and all, but there is no need to troll here anymore. Why would you hang out here? You have seen what the game is offering, you dont like it, enjoy WoW/AoC/WAR whatever you like. |

The video was nice. I still didn't see any crafting though. And I only saw about 20 seconds of NPC's

No you aren't allowed to criticise this wonderfull game preview, this small start-up company has worked hard give them a little credit. Sadly most people here won't care for your opinion and vice versa.

Are you following me around now? *smirks*
I gave them credit. You can read up on my post, I listed good things and bad things. No, I weill not glorify this video without adding some criticism to it, because no, the company does not deserve that. Yes, they deserve credit for meeting the deadline for that Video, yes they deserve credit for what they have done, but NO they do not deserve to be put onto a pedestal so no one may touch or criticize them.
Yes, it's really getting tedious here. I've posted ups and downs about this video, but apparently you are on a crusade to bash anyone who won't agree that the video is 100% perfect (which it is not). |

Gotta love that most critique gets almost directly spouted as troll. So put that sugarcane down and let that euforia slip, damn board is filled with fanboyism (which is as worse). Nice to finally see some DF in action, my doutbing is over. Tho I'm not really impressed. boats how they sink looks quite bad and some of the animations do. Hope the gameplay will be smooth but I have my doubts. Actually the moment I enjoyed best was at the end with the mounted combat, mount movement looked quite nice. Anywho now it's only waiting for beta or release to make a real assessment of this game.
So in short: Video didn't make me go WEEEE and it didn't make me go *puke*. |

Who said everything was perfect, I wan't to give the DF credits today for reaching a milestone in there development cycle. I feel no need to criticise them at the moment, and feel no need to discuss what i see as shortcomming I will do that in the Beta , and provide that information to the Devs. I don't see any more major changes just tweaks now. I see no reason to change my opinion on the game it is the same as it has always been. The video delivers gives lots to discuss but not here... Difficult to discuss the points you have made as I don't see much merit in them, I am only really interested in people who want to play DF, and am not sure you do... ________________________________________________________ |

I honestly wasn't expecting the video to release for another week or two, what a pleasant surprise. While I would have liked to see something on crafting, and a little more than those few seconds on city/fortress construction, the combat did look rather appealing. The graphics, while far from top end, looked good to me, the artwork was nice. All in all not terrible, and as always it could have been better. At least it was a promise kept. |

I'm honestly surprised they release something. But when they say game play video I'd imagine watching someone actually play the game not a 3rd person view of the action. As far as the video goes it was meh.... Looks like a game I played back in the late 90's, the name is escaping me now. |

Well, the video impressed me, I really enjoyed watching it (and I hate watching gaming videos) If this game's for real, its a real coup for Aventurine. If it releases, I'll be playing. I did sign up for the beta today. Can't say I'm a believer yet, but looks far more interesting to me than WAR right now. (which I really have mixed feelings about playing atm)

I'm still not impressed, the complete video looked scripted. The textures terrible, amateur at best, really stretched out. Animation problems, fire was burning in the sky hovered etc. Still didn't see much of a UI. I am surprised they actually came up with something on time instead of delaying it. Until the game actually releases I'm still the same I've always been. It won't be good all around and it will be niched. Just don't get too excited over this, remember AoC's hype and fall.

I was very impressed by this video. Much more impressed than WAR, which left me with no feelings. Here the action looks furious with fast fights. Archers can even climb the trees to snipe/ambush other players. We haven't seen everything, but from what I see it looks like what Vanguard failed to be, with the most amazing sea battles I have ever seen (even better than POTBS), city building and sieges etc... Of course they need to improve some of the textures, animations and spell effects (thats just some polish). And show us more on crafting (we only saw 10 seconds), trading, lore and pve. It remains to be seen if there isn't too much complexity (which would make it a niche game), but overall it looks awesome. |

I dont need any video...i'll just hold out for beta in 2011..... |

based on full torrent download video (left torrent up for several hours to help feed others trying to get this) not widescreen - very sad actually a good video which i watched all the way through (unheard of for me) - the MTV style cutting could cause nausea in some the character models were primitive at best strangely the armor wavered between sadly lacking and detailed so not sure this is really 100% ingame animations were very herky-jerky - very oldschool like 1990 something (in addition - please, 2 devs need to go outside - first to see what trees look like - second, one dev needs a digital video recorder while the other one runs around so maybe they can get a clue what bipeds look like when they walk and run) graphics in general added more strangeness - some locations looked really - and i mean really good - and others were like 10 years old - older areas maybe that need updating? water was laughable - seriously bad - uhm, horrible ships were decent - unrealistic as far as movement and layout but looked like fun - must be guild run - don't know how else it would work explosions from cannonfire and spells made me chuckle but the small effects created by such might be necessary for the number of them that occur in big fights mounts looked terrific - animation of mounts quite good but distance covered did not match physical movement collision detection seriously lacking - but most online games are two things.... i want one of those land boats or whatever they were - i really, really do i want to be a badass magic guy - very badly
all that being said (typed) we really should have gotten much more out of 1TB of recorded video

yeah its really hard to remember a mmorpg from the 90's, there was like 3 of them.. maybe 4 Or this one of my own screens from ac/dt 98 or so (funny one btw hahaha) Your memmory is just wrong, you might think uo and eq had good gfx, but they didnt... =) I am not saying df is cutting edge on the gfx, but in a way it is, because i certainly dont know which other game lets hundreds of players fight with 60+ fps.

My first impression is the guys running look more like they are floating, and the world looks a bit average. Nothing looks a step beyond anything already out. We will see if/when it releases. Personally I am sick of fantasy games. |

i should add that because of the video i did change my hype from a 1 to a whopping 5

So in short: Video didn't make me go WEEEE and it didn't make me go *puke*. And there my friends is the exact reason this game will fail and be long forgotten. It's mediocre crap at best. And in todays MMORPG market you need to have an OUTSTANDING product to succeed. Outstanding meaning up to date graphics , full PvE content , no bugs , awesome customer support... This is why Blizzard is king and will always be. |

I'll be the first to admit that DF's animations need work. But the gameplay more than makes up for it. The cool thing is that graphics can be updated down the road. See EVE as a recent example. Much more concerened with stability and gameplay, which the devs seem to agree with. For being a new indy company, they have already done that better than funcom. ---sig---
