I have read so many false and almost slanderous pieces of misinformation on this site about WAR that I think I have to dispell a few of them at least.

it seem ok that misinformation on WAR is ok on general boards, but not despelling them.

this is however sth that is intersting for everyone who is into eye candy and has been told by trolls and shown by ancient alpha footage videos that WAR looks like WoW or similar misconceptions.

the general board is for people who are generally interested in MMORPGs and about similarities or differences between MMORPGs.

I heard WAR looks cartoony or like WoW, or that AoC has so much better character / weapon /armor graphics and detail.

I dare say it looks even better than AoC's characters. and you can dye armor in WAR and add special trophies to it and make it look unique.

do we really need this even? trolls will come and try to say its exactly like WoW.. except worse in every way.  and fanbois will say its nothing like WoW and better in every way.  most people have formed their opinions of it already and any who are at all interested in the game won't be put off by the normal troll posts around.

I have read this garbage from too many normal people who are not trolling and think it's the truth.

assuming you are not in WAR beta, did you imagine the graphics like this, or did you have the same old early beta screens in your head?

It looks the same as WoW just more detailed imo. Whatever though, I think LoTR looks like WoW too. I think it depends on what you're actually talking about. They're both medievel like fantasy. Anyway, whatever.

From seeing the game in action, I can certainly see where the comparisons between WoW and WAR can be drawn.  Particularly, the set-up of the actual gameplay screen is very similar to that of WoW.  The health and mana bar on the top left, with a photo of the head of your character (joined by the same for each of your teammates in a party), the minimap in the top right corner, and the skill bar across the bottom.  That, and the overall style of combat doesn't appear to be overly different.

The game has enough differences that it's not viewable as a clone by a careful observer, but calling it a bit WoWish isn't completely unfounded.

Nice pics OP, but it truly is a lost cause. The best course of action is to quietly laugh at the trolls, because they're stupid, and ignore them.

You have to play it to realize just how wrong the assesment that it looks like WoW is. I hate WoW graphics, and I quit because I do not like the style at all. Warhammer, on the other hand, blew me away with the artistic beauty of the game. Warcraft was supposed to be a Warhammer game but they were denied, boy am I glad that Mythic got the title instead. I love what has been created for the Warhammer universe. It has such depth and atmosphere and the character armors and models look so very fantasy. I believe that the best way to describe Warhammer's visuals, is that it is like stepping into a really good fantasy book.

I think it's just the style, how characters run, the bulckyness, the buildings, everything in general. Mind you I think WAR looks better though.

I was going to say Badlands but that character looks more advanced.

My best guess is Blade's Edge Mountains, up high.

Yeah, WAR might not look like WOW, but it plays enough like it to show its roots to just about every game that preceeded it, including WOW I'm afraid.

Looks to me like a T2.5 Warrior with the Axe from C'thun, and hes standing in Durotar it seems.

I have seen a lot of vids and screenshots of War, and tbh they differ greatly depending on the environment and who took them.

Individual character and landscape shots look extremely well produced and highly detailed - however..

In larger battles/action shots, I can see a high similarity between the two games.  It can't be denied.

Is this because the detail/textures scale down the more information appears on screen, or is it because certain shots are being taken with all bells and whistles enabled to show off the game?  Remember that a smaller percentage of folk will be playing on high settings.

Just to qualify my leanings, I dislike WoW intensely and am really looking forward to getting my mits on War, so if anything I'm very biased towards War.

If I had to nail down the style of War, I'd say that if WoW2 arrived on the scene <God forbid>, then War is what it would look like.

You shouldn't trust what the camera shows you when you know the man pointing it has an agenda.  You picked the most god-awful armor for your toon and looks like you put your wow graphics on lowest resolution unlike war ones.  You also chose a boring, red setting to clash with armor colors.  How stupid to you think people are?
