Ok so I bought a GeForce 9600 GT and it supports DX10. Will WAR run in DX10 on my machine? where would I DL it? When I look at my DXDiag it still says DX9 even after loading new drivers. Thanks for any help |

No one in this world can you trust. Not men, women, or beasts.[Points to sword] This you can trust. |
If you are using Windows XP you will not be able to use DX 10 without getting some wierd hacked version and registry hack to get it to kinda run or allow it ot install.
DX 10 is reserved for Vista only as per Microsoft.

If you want Direct X 10, you need Windows Vista basic at least. Not the upgrade from XP to Vista crap either, the full version. For some reason, the upgrade pack sucks hardcore. When I switched to a full version of Premium Home, I haven't had a single problem with Vista. Also, the hack for XP to run a half assed DX10 can royally fuck up your computer so I wouldn't advise doing it. You should of gone with a 7900 if you weren't planning on getting Vista for SX10. ;p |

just like halo 2 and soon to be halo 3, only playable on vista, minus hacks, halo 2 and 3 arent really a showboat for dx10
so to be honest dx10 isnt worth much at the moment i would doubt you would notice the difference. in my opinion stay with xp and dx 9 less hastle. |

you will not need dx10 war does not support dx10 as far as i know . a game has to be designed/coded/modeled with dx10 in order for a dx10 video card to properly dispaly that kind of quality gfx. owning a dx10 card does not mean the card itself will produce dx10 graphics for your games.
not sure if that makes sense or not but i hope it helps |

Originally posted by Captjack001 This makes it sound like you will somehow be getting less performance from your card just because you're running a DX9 engine. While it's true the DX10 hack for XP is dirty, there's no valid reason to "downgrade your card cause you won't be running DX10". You will get 100% out of your card either way, the performance difference is marginal and due to some DX10 optimisations. |

DX10 is aproven scam by Microsoft it does not offer any advantage, it actually makes most DX9 effects slower and DX10 effects need 3GB ram at least. DX10 is a scam, we all know it. |
