Hey guys, I'm looking for a game.

Before I go into detail - free.

Anyway, i'd prefer a fantasy setting, with good character customization.
a community that isn't hardcore (what I mean is, I can sit down, and make friends, not just join parties for the sake of grinding)

it can't be Mabinogi, as they've blocked out Australian IP's.
 

PvP doesn't bother me.
Really, I'm looking for a game where I can treat it like a world, and not just a race to the finish.

I've played, FFXI, L2, RO, RO2, LOTRo, GW, SilkRoad, Maple Story, WoW, RF, Pirate Kind, Anarchy, Flyff/

I really enjoyed FFXI and RO, but I'm not sure why.

1) Rappelz is a free game.

2) You can make friends in the game just like I have. A nice guild with 170 members =)

3) You don't need to do that either, I "grinded" solo mostly but also its enjoyable in a good party.

4) It's not Mabinogi

5) You can be completely Pvm focused and still enjoy the game. You also can and mostlike you have to pvp once awhile (around once a week for, lets say dungeon siege)

I'm still playing it and enjoying it =)

So, What is the Player Creation like?
I've always seen Rappelz as a "l2 clone", but I might give it a try, how does it play etc?

That's exactly what I thought, "L2 clone"

Now that I actually play it, I don't really feel like that anymore.

Just try it out. That's pretty much the only way you can see if you like it yourself. What I say might be misleading information (to you) since we all have our invidual taste =)

edit: About Character customize, well you can't really do that much. Though later levels you WILL get diffrent style equipments :)

I'll put it on my list, but, (and no offence), I'd also like to know what other people reccomend too, not just the first game to be suggested.

ya i agree perfect world has amazing character customization and pretty good graphics. So you should definetly take a look at it.

I Don't like the controls in Perfect World.Graphics are ok,but 2 games id say Is Rappelz or maybe Rohan Online.Both fairly good & free.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is simply one of the best role-playing games ever made. I'm not sure if you are looking for an mmo or not as you didn't specify, but if you havn't already, i suggest you look into this game. It is more medieval than fantasy but still has all fantasy elements such as swords and goblins ;)
