Girls are attracted to guys who play MMORPG's 24 hours a day. Didnt you know?

I intend to live forever -- So far so good!

They all want rugged men with 5 o'clock shadows who reek of manliness, swing a mean ax and wear red flannel shirts.

I could just see an MMO marketed to girls... AoE perfume clouds of doom... pet classes with nothing but kittens and unicorns (both with pink ribbons in their hair)... staying up all night to talk in between killing each mob... epic raids of Macy's Labor Day sale... bridal shower PvP...

So yeah, basically Hello Kitty Online.

I agree that my desires for a game as a female are overlooked.  I will add that I am NOT speaking for all girls who play games when I tell you what I would like, but I will put together a short list of things that I think would be attractive to female gamers.

1. Character Customization Options -  the best game for this hands down was SWG.  You could wear pink high heels, and do your hair and makeup.  Not all girls care about this, but you would attract many more girls to gaming if you give us a chance to glam up our characters.  The Entertainer profession was great for us, and I knew loads of girls IRL in that game that had all their houses filled with clothes.

2. Houses - they are important!  We like to decorate them and make them look beautiful, so lots of furniture, house styles, and options would be great here too.

3. Social Activities - we don't mind grouping, it's fun!  It's fun to chat about things too, and whether it is a special holiday GM event, or just the guild getting together to throw an ingame party, this is very fun for us!  Make the game incorporate social events as part of the gameplay.

I also invite any girl gamers to disagree with these if applicable.  I dont want to stereotype us, but I know I would like to see more games that cater to women's desires, and I think these are a few.

Do women like to go shopping in game as well?

! ugh you actually think you know what girls want.. I have no desire for any of the things you said silly. wanting to be able to put an eye out with my stilettos is not the same as wanting pet classes. I don;t even want a pet in games, I would rather rip the guys apart with my bare hands than have a pet do it for me. We enjoy making the boys run home and cry to their mommies.rofl!

You know it is funny, I hate buying and selling on games so much I have people that do it for me.  I just tell them what i want, and they bring it to me.

Submissive or not, it's the way we're put together. Most men tend to gravitate towards typical manly stuff, while most women is drawn towards typical girly stuff. It's some 50 million years of evolution there smacking you in the back of the head

Anyway, I think its a good idea to use stereotyping in game design. If you somehow can make a game that apply to both sex's stereotypical roles, the hunter in the men and the gatherer in the women, and do it well ofcourse, I think you got a bestseller on your hands. Ofcourse there are exceptions to this, but the stereotypes are there for a reason. Funny though that SWG pre-nge was the game that was nearest to this of all the games out there, but got smeared into a unrecognizable pulp by some idiot devs with the totally wrong ideas about what people actually want.

small edit for typos...argg
