Well after playing the preview weekend, I guess I'll post my initial feelings and reactions.

The Good:

1) I love the fact that you can level from RvR. This was the most fun I have had at the early levels of a video game simply because I could jump into a PvP scenario without having to run a bunch of stupid quests.

2) Nice wide selection of classes. Some of them were fun, some of them weren't, but I'm sure every one of them is fun to someone. More choices are always good.

3) Public quests were very cool and original.

The Bad:

1) The graphics are horrible. Plain and simple, the characters were hideous and the graphics seemed like a step back from WoW. WoW's are cartoony but not necessarily bad, but WAR's just looked bad.

2) Horrible performance. I'm running a Q6600, 8800gts, 3.6 gb of ram,(a computer that was getting 40-60 fps on high settings in AoC in high populated areas, even when I only had 2gb of ram) and the game ran choppy on my PC, even with the crappy graphics. All drivers were up to date. I could never keep a steady framerate, and would always get random choppiness.

3) I don't see any long term value. Yes, the early levels were more fun than other games, but I don't see this having much longevity. Running RvR scenarios over and over again will get old very fast. Public quests, while cool and fun the first few times, are pretty much the same thing over and over again, and I think will quickly lose their appeal.

4) Nothing really new here. Besides the leveling in PvP, and the public quests, we've seen, and played this game before a million times. Nothing breaks the mold.

Overall, while I did have fun in the preview weekend, I don't see myself buying this game, at least not at first. There really isn't anything new and exciting about this game(besides the hype) that would make me want to run out and buy it over any other game that is out.

Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Jumpgate Evolution, Earthrise, Fallen Earth, anything sandbox.

What do you think? If I loved the fact that I could level from RvR without questing, what does common sense tell you?

Welcome to the world of beta testing, the graphics were locked to low.

Okay, you won't listen to me but here we go:

Graphics are locked at low because it's still a beta.

Performance is variable, they're still optimizing.

Yes, just keep thinking about yourself

Who gives a rat's ass if it's new? As long as it's fun.

Yes, I heard that graphics were locked on low, but even with low graphics settings the character models still look bad, and if I can't get good fps on low graphics, I expect it to be worse on high.

Kinda funny

1) The graphics, I considered EASILY a step better then WoW.

2) I had no CHOPPYNESS except during large PVP events.

3) The game is fun.  As long as I have fun I will play it.  Thats seems to be long term value to me.

4) Lets see what new things does WAR bring.  Public Quests, a game made well and balanced for PvP.  I really haven't seen anything NEW since DAoC 6 years ago came out.

Well then can't help ya. Graphics settings don't change models, only textures, shadows, lighting, etc. I believe they don't have the final animations in yet, if that's what you mean, but if you're talking about "marauders are too fat" or "elves are too skinny" or something, that's not going to change.
