That's right, there'll be population caps for both order and destruction on each server. This is a very good decision imho --------------------------- Playing: EVE Played: EQ (+all expansions too), Asheron''s Call 2, Anarchy Online, Planet Side, EQ2, WoW (+TBC), EVE |

Yeah just saw that one yesterday. Important how he said, "We don't want to punish the other side just because they have more people." |

Could see that screwing up quite a lot of people. Considering that the most have on beforehand picked what they want to be (Destruction/Order and probably Career too) and then they pick the server their friends play on, only to see that they can't play as - for instance - Destruction because there are too few on Order. |

No brainer that this is an excellent move on part of Mythic. --------------------------- Playing: EVE Played: EQ (+all expansions too), Asheron''s Call 2, Anarchy Online, Planet Side, EQ2, WoW (+TBC), EVE |

This. I imagine they will use a queue system. Nothing wrong with that, IMO, and it doesn't make it so friends may not be able to play the same faction. |

Solution: Play different chars on different servers. During the CB i had two chars on two different servers, when one server goes down, i hop on the other and both chars got equal loving due to that. This is not a game. |

Good call on Mythic's part. It's nice to know they have an actual plan in place and aren't just waiting to see what happens. If this turns out to be a bad idea, it can be remedied. Better this than starting with a Free-For-All and then later having to restrict players later on down the line to accomplish RVR population balance. It would piss people off much more to go from playing whenever they want to being forced to sit in a queue. |

I don''t have to know how to make a better game, I only need to know where the "CANCEL" button is! |

I think it would help a great deal if they manage to replace the missing careers soon. Frankly, from what little I've experienced, I can see a lot of Empire players getting fed up with the first RvR zone due to the lack of a native Tanking class and rolling Destruction instead. If it ever got to the point where the High Elves actually invade the Dark Elf zones, the same problem will manifest there. Face it, nobody plays a game to lose all the time. If you know you'll be playing with friends that aren't 100% sure of what they want to play yet, just pick a strategy like I will: At the start of release make all your potential Order character on server A and all your potential Destruction characters on server B. Good luck. |

I can agree with this to a certain extent, but realistically from my experience at Tier 2 people are moving between the pairings quite a lot.
From level 1-12 takes what? 6 hours if you know the quests, something like that. (that includes getting at least RR8-10 in that time). |

If there is a CAP for each faction on the servers... is there a cap on the total number of alts you can create on your account? Why do I ask? What if my main is Order on server A. But in order to be an arsehat, I go ahead and roll lvl 1 Destruction toons on other servers B-Z... as many alts as I can, on as many servers as I can. I would do this just to take up Destruction character slots on those servers with characters that will never see combat or be of any level to even matter. Basically, if you got enough people to do this... you could hamstring one faction if you overloaded 1 side with enough lowbies and took up enough slots on a server (servers). This wouldn't be too far from having several afk'ers in WoW's AV.

I am pretty new to Warhammer and did not get into the preview weekend, call me a late bloomer, but I got a few questions when it does come to the population in general on this game. 1. How many players can be on 1 server @ a time? And does this mean the servers will keep a even balance on how many order and destruction players are on? I am confused here.. 2. Is the Battlegrounds structured like WoW where you go agaist other players from a different server, or just your server alone? And I assume the RvR is only agaist players on the same server since its not instanced right? 3. What happens when the server is capped? Would we be looking at a que to get in? The reason I ask this question is, if I decide to play the game later on down the road, will it be hard to get on and create a character so I can be with my friends? I currently play the sci-fi type setting games (Eve) and I hear alot of people that like pvp are going to give this game a try. |
