Hi all,

Im toying with the idea of a MMORPG game... i played the early SWG for a quite some time and really enjoyed it, about 2 years ago i gave it another shot but it seemed that all the community had gone and the game was basically a stinking dog poop of its former self.

So i kind of gave up on MMO as nothing looked appealing....

Now i know that Elite 4 is apparantley in dev and being an uber fanboy of that im excited but its years off.

Does anyone have anything suggestions of something good?

Is a SWG remake likely....i have a distaste for SOE they give the impression of a very greedy firm so id like to give another publisher a whirl.

I really liked the depth of the crafting and economy in SWG as well as the free roaming nature of it all...

any help appreciated

if you're a big SWG fan try out The saga of Ryzom.

Sandbox, skillbased, free roam, deep crafting, world pvp, item decay, faction warfare and player created campaigns.

The game is free atm so hurry and try it out.

Why would I play a pathetic themepark MMO when I could enjoy a masterpiece like Mass Effect, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Dragon Age?

that looks like a good suggestion cheers...

whats your opinion of EVE?

and im tempted by Faction v Faction....always frustrated me why SOE never did anything major with SWG....

Eve is a great game only made better by faction warfare.

Eve is probably the most complex MMO on the market which turns alot of people off.

I would of suggested Eve also since it's probably the best sandbox out today.

Seeing as your a swg vet Ryzom would probably be a better fit a bunch of SWg vets migrated to the game and it's similar in a lot of ways.

Eve has a three week trial through steam and ryzom is free for a little while longer I suggest you try both games since they are certainly the two best Sandbox games on the market right now.

OH the pvp in both games is a bit different, in Ryzom when you die you are delt a XP penalty that needs to be worked off and your gears durability lowers (item decay)

In eve if you die you lose your ship and if you didn't register a clone your skill points as well.

Eve is a bit more hardcore pvp wise than ryzom if you like that type of thing.

Anarchy Online! Best mmo ever, besides WAR which isn't out yet but I got to play in the preview weekend.

EVE is pretty much the only free game left, until Darkfall anyway. Wait for that one.

Anarchy Online is free and has just as much depth as EVE, if not more.

Eve online has a free trial (14 days) although if you can make enough isk (in game money) you can buy time codes with it which makes the game kinda free :)
