Now now fanboys, I'm just stating my opinion. Honestly though, I was in closed beta for many months, and I literally stopped playing cold turkey about a month ago. The reasons for this were many. The game is just so bland and boring overall. Combat is stiff and unexciting, just plain unoriginal. Classes are uninteresting and not engaging. Animations are craptastic, seriously, it cannot be denied the way characters run is just unacceptable. The world design is so linear it kills me (this is a serious down side for me personally, as it was in AoC). Graphics are downright outdated,  though honestly this wouldn't be a factor if the gameplay were fun (Lineage 1 for example, which was 2d, kicked ass).

Now I'd really like to hear from some other long time Closed Beta testers, or just players in general. To me, this game is unoriginal, bland, and boring. I would never spend a cent on it.

P.S. the reason I'm even posting this is to save some people some money, is all. Also, to stop those who are super-hyped about it from being let down big time. It probably is not what you are expecting. Take it from a long, long term MMORPG player.

I have not played WAR yet but if it's just another MMO then you can count me out. Seeing the same gameplay over and over again is too much. AOC tried to change things up but could not deliver enough content and fix ridiculous amount of bugs in time.

i personally found the game to be everything they said it would be.  if lineage 2, WoW, and DAoC had a threesome this is what would happen.  i didn't find the world design to be linear in any way, but that is just my oppinion.  i found the classes to be interesting and unique.  oh and i liked the graphics.

You are telling us this after you stopped playing over a month ago in closed beta? and your main complaints are about graphics and movement...

I've played MMORPGs since the time they came into existence.  I thought WAR was a lot of fun.  The most fun I've had in an MMO in years to be exact.  That's just my opinion. :)

I dont see this "super-hype" you reference, unlike the hype AOC had

the NDA is lifted - people are talking about the game, good and bad

people can see for themselves during the pre-order open beta or they can signup with Fileplanet

(all comcast users get Fileplanet subs for free)

I was in the closed beta. Warhammer is pretty bland but i plan to play it since i already paid in full for it. People try hard to deny the facts and support the game 100% but everyone knows the game needs a ton of work. I do enjoy warhammer, but its the little things like the craptastic animations and graphics that are really a turn off. The weird part is how demanding the game is pc wise, the game eats up 1.3mb of ram and the graphics aren't even that great. I think it is mainly bad coding.

Not really, it's mainly the world design and gameplay/combat that get to me. Besides, I doubt they would have done a huge overhaul on the graphics right before release, as I haven't seen it happen in ANY beta I've been in. As for the animations, yeah they could have fixed that, but I doubt it. Of course, I haven't logged on to check myself. Have they fixed them?

i have been playing mmo's for over 10 years and i was in the closed beta and i really enjoyed the game. i enjoyed all aspects of the game nto to mention the game is fun and i bought the CE pre order i liked it so much.  im sorry you didnt like it. but if you read alot of the forums like 99% of the beta testers really liked the game. i have only seen a few beta testers that didnt like the game guess you are one of the few. my wife who is a REALLY big WoW fan enjoyed playing and watching me play. the game and she is gunna play it and is talking all her freinds from wow into switching to war. i got into WoTLK beta and gave it away cause i was having more fun with war beta. you can call me a fanboi if you want too but war made me into one after playing. 

like i say to all these threads... one less person to cry about how they wasted there money on a game THEY bought.

So you've been a long time beta tester and you never learned that half the settings in WAR for visuals are disabled for beta right? The game is really meant for a larger amount of people, so honestly the beta is just supposed to give you a taste. I have been in the beta for a long while now, and this is why i try not to play a beta as a main game... You get bored of the limitations, then when the game actually coems out, you basically have to reroll if you found the class for yourself and spent all your time on it. I played the beta, tried all the classes, found the one for me, and reported what bugs and glitches i found along the way to about level 10 on each class. The combat you are probobly referring to is PvE, which the game is not designed for... it is designed for RvR DAoC style - large amounts of players in an all out war. You don't really get to test that in a closed beta, but the preview weekend was pretty awesome for trying that out and I loved it a lot. The world design is good and bad. The good is you don't have to wander around trying to find out what the hell you have to do, it's very simple: you start in a warcamp and grab the quests there, and do them , move to the next warcamp etc. If you get bored of that you look in your lfg window, do PQs or scenarios, or even go to the open RvR part of the zone, which isn't hard to find. Although these areas may be deserted in beta, if you played the preview weekend you would know what it was like with 2500 people to a server. The bad is generally it makes the world seem less open, although throughout joining scenarios and doing PQs i never really noticed. I am also a long time MMORPG player.

It will take a good game for me to stop playing CoH/V.  I only get to play one MMORPG at a time.  Guess I will be playing WAR only after the 18th.  :)

yes such terrible coding that the game runs smooth with hundreds of people in one place, i hate such terrible coding.

I never understood the reasoning why a game in Beta would not use its full potential graphics, especially so close to release. Doesnt the company want to know if any other bugs or problems will arise when they release the 'real version' of the game? or is it just our belief that we think Beta is not the real graphic engine?  What i mean is not early Beta, i mean Beta that is very very close to release.

It'll be lots of fun early on because there will be tons of people there ... making up for it's shortcommings. No way would I play WAR with a low pop or take the chance of resubbing past the free month.

I share the OP's sentiments, and that was clear just after the preview weekend.

All the hype they didn't deliver on and holding the highlevel NDA in place are also huge alarm bells going off. We'll see, I hope it's ends up a great game but don't  see it living past the newness factor and hype.

Why dont people fuckin clear their information before flaming this game. The CB/OB clients are set at low graphics only and on release you are able to change it to high. Friggin hell...

There are pictures of the games graphics turned up all the way floating around the interwebz somewhere, it actually looks pretty nice.

First of all i think your TOTALLY miss the point of being a beta tester. A beta tester is supposed to test the game out and find the flaws and help with advancement and improvement of the game until the final product is released. you on the other hand just played this game as a free demo to see if you liked it or not. You my friend are the kind of people that piss me off because i know there are many others out there that would have loved to beta to make the game better not get a free play out of it, and because you just wanted a free play you expect a final product not something unfinished, which is exactly what a beta is btw.

so let me break down a few things why its so obvious that you are just a leech on this game and didnt even do what you signed up for:

1. Tell me what other game out there has combat similar. All action points with a career specific pool? I cant remember any successful mmo that ,or any mmo for that matter, which shared that same resource pool idea for combat. So unoriginal? i think not.

2. I really wonder if you made it past level 10 for any class or how long ago you played because (again) some classes werent even done until a month or so ago and until you get your T2 gear at least its harder to feel like your roll in your char. Lawl or you just solo'd all the time and got owned....thats not very engaging either

3.Here we go again, obviously the game isn't done so obviously all the animations arent even in place and sometimes they can be buggy, i mean for a while the marader's arm wouldnt even change but it does now (like other bugged ones too), and the animations are always under constant adjustment

4.Uhh...what other mmo these days isn't linear? Wow....eq..eq2....and why you might say? so you can get some focus on the game. Games like swg had no focus or vision. it was just so random you never felt bound to your environment. I mean as far as im concerned WAR has had the most interesting leveling scheme ive seen so far (and ive played LOTS of mmo's :P) I mean how  many times did you play another mmo and DREAD rolling a new char because of how boring/dead/same the zones are. In war you can roll a different char and go to a different story line if you want. thats 3 different stories you can get out of one side. Definately more than previous mmo's

5. my last and final example that OP is a nub. One more time, the game isnt done, you cant even change teh graphics options and the graphics arent final at all, once it is all finished it will look much nicer.

you have missed a few patches that addressed some of your issues from what i have read and not only that but Mark Jacobs is 1 step ahead of the haters by posting top 9 things they are doing to the game within the next 3 weeks!

so yes you are still entitled to your own oppinion but the fact of the matter is ....there has been alot of things changed since you stopped beta and they are still working on alot more before launch.

so i would suggest checking it out again (just my thoughts)
