Healers in WAR are pretty solid dps machines.  Defense is a mix of armour and HoT.  You can spec out to increase dps and to some extent heals but core skills aren't specable.

WP's are decent supplamental dps. They are not a mele dps class, like so many seem to think (and play them as) they are a healing class. The thing is, in WAR all healers can actually do damage too. I started playing the wp in senarios as a dpser that could heal, and got owned, alot. When I sat back and healed, and attacked people who broke through the ranks, or assisted other players (to gain healing points back) the class was MUCH better, I was suddenly top of the list on senarios for kills, RR, xp, and bottom for deaths.

Long story short, its a healer that can actually solo mobs and do dmg in pvp.

They are a melee class because their healing abilities require righteous fury, and to build that you MUST deal melee damage. If you stand back and don't melee your righteous fury wont build while you're engaged and you wont be able to throw out heals. There is an ability that builds RF but it can't be interupted. People get very nasty when you're not throwing out enough heals, so if you don't melee you won't keep up with the needs of a 24 man WB.

I have played the WP quite a bit in Beta. The WP is my personal fav class, not because they are the best or the easiest to play, but they fit my playstyle. I like to Melee and I like to heal. Most people who have played for awhile don't count on the WP being a main healer. They are a decent melee DPS and a decent back up healer. I heal when I can, top people off after a fight and rez as much as I can so the main healers can keep healing. I try to protect our healers and kill theirs when I get a chance. Hope this helps - Zeke - Warrior Priest - Iroas

Thanks all for the replys! they did help alot. i also really enjoy the WP b ecause like someone said before, there not really the main healer. They need to help at the front just as much as lets say an ironbreaker, am i right? Because they need to do this to get righteous fury, so i like this because y ou dont just stand in the back and do nothign but heal, u actually are in the action with the WP!

Couple of corrections I see pop up a lot.

DoK and WP do not need to melee to build mana, they both get a skill that transfers action points to mana.  And frankly even if you do melee you will need that skill from time to time to top up.

As for not being dps melee...

WP can use tactics for 25% damage increase, 50% haste on crit, 15% crit chance.  Has skills that do:

375 AE spirit damage dot, 210 dmg dot, 285 dd dmg, buff to proc 158 dmg, 158 dmg... these are unmodified.

Witch Hunter can use tactics for 124str, 50% haste on crit, 333 dot proc.  Skills wise:

270 stackable dot, 190 dmg heal debuff, 145 dmg cripple, 221 disarm on parry, 589 stat debuff finisher.

Add the 25% bonus to WP and these numbers are pretty comparable.  The DoK on the other hand is even more dps focused and does surpass that Witch Elf in dps.  Melee dps are underpowered right now.

Watch these videos I made of the WP, and DoK in Scenario RvR to get an idea!  They're great at wading into the frey and walking away almost everytime if you don't push to far!
