Seriously. Wanting to be able to jump and fall doesn't mean you want to bunny jump all the time. It's the feeling of freedom. Not being able to jump makes me feel like I'm glued to the ground, it's not a feeling I like to have when playing a game. |

try typing /alert, lol. anyway, i know what you mean, it's been asked to the devs dozens of times already by the players, but apparently that would require a tremendous amount of work. Personally i'd rather get some more work done on the encyclopedia and the likes before they would implement jumping. |

Pay to play, don''t pay to replay! |

I understand your complain, many ask for jump. But if you make a step further in the game knowledge, you will understand that the absence of jump is not a missing feature but an intended behaviour: the whole planet is a big 'quest' for itself in their obstacles and trapping path. Jump would exploit a lot of the knowledge you need for the paths while traveling, being able to save your yourself jumping from a hill is not something possible in Atys: if you choose the wrong path, you fall trapped and need a lot of effort to save yourself from death. It's part of the game design. Many people think there is not the z-axis in game, but this is not true. It would be possible to change the world to allow jumping and preserving the difficult in travelling, but it would require a lot of changes in the textures and in the collision system, so I don't think this can be a high priority job for the developers. Anyway, who knows? Actually the game just reopened and it's still in a sort of new 'beta', so it's possible that it will be done in the future.

The problem with jumping was once explained to be heavily dependent on Ryzom as a 2.5D game, instead of 3D. You can easily see what's meant by 2.5 dimensions by getting somewhere high up above mobs and casting spells or using ranged on them (this is seen as exploit though so don't overdo it). Only the distance in 2D axis to the critter is taken into account, the height won't be counted in, and this is very deeply ingrained in to the Ryzom engine itself. So there are differences in height but the engine bypasses some of that information completely and also probably causes some of even the milder hills in the landscape being unclimbable. For the exact workings in the engine I can't really comment but this was posted many moons ago as an explanation by a dev. |

Personally, I enjoy it for two reason.
While it may restrict your vertical freedom, it really isn't to bad once you play long enough. Coming from UO this wasn't to hard to adjust for, but also playing FPS's on the side it was a little challenging at first. |

This is really a bad thing for me and the few that consider the vertical axis as a very important feature. I see, for what has been said, that it's not gong to happen to Ryzom ever. I already skipped SWG for this same reason, I tried it for weeks, but I just couldn't go on playing, it gets on my nerves and I can't enjoy the rest of the game. Ah well.. Ryzom looks very good besides this. |

I dowloaded the game, created account and quit playing after finding out you can't jump. I also never got into GW for the same reason. WASD + jumping is a must for me nowadays. |

I understand you want games to have the jump. I used to feel like you about the jump, but now I can live without the jump. I would suggest you just start playing . After a while the lack of the jump wont bother you a whole lot. Give it a try. |

I don't mind not being able to jump. In real life you don't see people jumping around all over the place, they walk around objects. |

I am a jumper, I know this. TFC started it and it ended with that crazy jumping orc hunter in wow who you thought was dead but got right back up to kill three of you stinking allies. I don't care if Ryzom doesn't have jumping because well, jumping isn't all that important to me. When I saw a handful of players in game really sticking it to ryzom because of the jumping issue, I knew some of them would post on MMORPG. And I must say that some of those players were being real bubbleheads, for a feature that really isn't all that important in a MMORPG. So if not having jumping in ryzom is what keeps those types away, keep jumping out. |
