Almost all the other features of WoW seem to be superior to WAR's:

1.) Almost open world, with flying mounts where I can land wherever I want in Outland (and Northrend from level 77)

2.) Amazing PvE that is going to get a huge boost in WOTLK

3.) An economy with an AH

4.) A  huge world comparing to other MMOs

5.) Professions that finally became meaningful

In WAR's favour: PvP and that is about it.

Or are there more WAR features that will blow WoW out of the water that I don't know about? (not in the beta, only going on what I read here).

Please understand that I am not a WoW fanboy, in fact I desperately want to leave it for a superior MMO. Just have not seen one yet.

A lot of people who liked WoW are burnt out on it by now. I enjoyed the game a lot, but It's just gotten old.

WAR offers a fresh environment, a new world to explore and new mechanics to master.

You can't judge the long term appeal of a game based on a preview weekend (AoC proved that), but I'm at least encouraged by what I've seen.

WAR is a compelling game, with a cool environment, interesting classes and plenty to do. (In spite of the stresson this being a PvP game, I've also found the PvE content very satisfying).

WoW has had years to polish and flesh out the game. I envy new MMO players coming to WoW for the first time, because if you like they style of play and environment, there is enough there to keep you happy for a long time.

For people who didn't like WoW, or who have just burnt out on it, WAR seems to offer a compelling alternative.

Wow is the most group oriented MMO I have ever played. Tell me any other MMO that focuses more on grouping than wow. Just because you can choose to level to 70 solo doesn't mean there is no support for grouping. Wow just allows you to solo instead if you want to.

I played WAR over the preview weekend and will definately spend the next few months playing it while I wait for WoTLK.

Reasons?

1) WAR is a very nice game - it is not as good as WOW in any apsect except RVR/PVPt, there is no doubt - but it is new and fresh and ive been playing WOW for 3 years.

2) I will no doubt continue with WOW when WoTLK comes out - but that being said, I have enough money to pay for both WAR and WOW if WAR has enough staying power to make me interested beyond 2 months of play.

You just defined what I consider a solo game. If you like solo games, hey, that's fine with me. I don't like solo games.

There will be many objectives in WAR that cannot be accomplished solo. I don't think one player is going to be taking a capital city by his or her self.

1. Very zoned world compared to many other games.

2. Easy,joke and booring PvE.

3. No economy at all.

4. World is jut OK but to ofar away form huge.

5. I cant believe it even I see it. Meaningful professions do not match the entire conception of the game.

About WAR you are right that the only advantage is PvP, but at least its here and is great. WoW do not have even a real PvP, but just multiplayer arena and BGs. Even DOTA is better than them, but at least its free.

PS: If understand that you are not WoW fanboy, then that mean that you are pure MMO amateur.

You list many technological reasons for staying in WoW but here's one very simple reason -- new adventures in new lands ripe for exploration.  You can only play/watch/re-read the same old story so many times...

The one big problem I had with WoW was my work schedule.  I never could find a guild that raided when I had the time.  So that left me with a lot of game content I could never experience.

According to the article in PCgamer War will only have 6 man raids and wings that take 90-120 minutes to run.  This should allow me to be able to experience everything in the game here.

Wow:

  • Almost no RvR
  • Constant nerd-raging at end-game
  • End-game is on a timer, waiting 3 days to repeat the same content anyone?
  • PvP is BGs (more nerd-raging ftw) or Arenas (season 2 vs. season 4 - whos gonna win?)
  • PvE content is very precisely structured, you could probably come up with 2 unique paths through the game before you start repeating entire zones.
  • Alliance fail and this has never been corrected.
  • I'm sorry where is the RvR content in WOTLK? Are they saving it as a surprise?

WoW is full of the most obnoxious trolls you will ever have the unpleasantness of encountering, nice people leave WoW :)

Flying mounts.. Seen this done before in Vangaurd.. Not special anymore..

2.) Amazing PvE that is going to get a huge boost in WOTLK

Warhammer's Public Quest system has never been done before. Its AMAZING and is equivalent to a raid that can involve anyone..

3.) An economy with an AH

Who needs an economy, when all you want to do is crush some heads? If I wanted a great economy i'd play Vangaurd..

4.) A  huge world comparing to other MMOs

Since War is RvR, the zones are DYNAMIC and can be altered based on the war effort.. WoW is also heavily instanced but the zones are static and are meaningless. In order to attack the capitols in War, the other zones MUST be captured FIRST!

5.) Professions that finally became meaningful

Hmm.. Yeah.. All of Warhammers classes are unique and have a place in any group. Not only that but the customization levels are far above those of WoW..

In WAR's favour: PvP and that is about it.

You failed to mention the bug free UI and stuff of WoW that actually made it stand out from other mmo's..TRUST me, WoW is NOTHING new other than its presentation, which is FLAWLESS.. but you seem to think it is the best in other things when it clearly is not..

WARHAMMER is different monster than WoW... It's a pvp game really.. The world is a DYNAMIC place where things can change with keeps and all, so while its zone based things can be CHANGED.. Warhammer isn't about economy and pve.. get over it..

I love how the OP goes WAR has nothing on WoW except for RvR. Well since WAR is a 100% RvR game isn't that kind of saying WAR has nothing on WoW except WAR?

RvR > WoW PvP

Public quests > 5 man instances

WAR IP > WoW IP (the original is usually better than the clone)

Say what you want...the day of reckoning is coming

The graphics in Warhammer look sub par they look  just like Knight Online's Graphics. (The graphics have a particular style and they look BETTER than WoW, so if wow is this popular with subpar graphics.. what is your logica again about the importance of graphics?)I mean you can sit here all day and tell me Zomg its not all about the graphics!! *nerd rage!!!!*  But hell thats what women say about men its not all about the appearance which is bull shit you cant be attracted to someone without SOME SORT OF physical attraction. The Default Warhammer UI is obviously so obvious stolen right from WoW UI it sorta makes me wanna barf.(does it also make you want to barf that wow stole that UI frmo other games like Everquest? but since you claim to know so much about MMOs.. I assume you already KNEW WoW's Ui was ripped off from other MMOS)  Why anyone would want to Leave wow for Warhammer for GOOD? Is so far beyond my average intellect it honestly is so far beyond me that I cannot even begin to comprehend why someone would do that. It would be like leveling a character on wow to 70 and then deleteing it and starting over for no reason.(with that logic you saying noone shoudl ever leave wow even if they are bored) Thats an example of what it would be like leaving wow for Warhammer. Your essentially going to another company that has taken itleast 90% of their ideas straight from WoW. (90% of the ideas? like PVE, PVP, Ui, Quests, Elves, Orcs, humans, ???!!! WTF.. are you serious.. WOW did not come up with ANY of those IDEAS! I am starting to think you are either trolling or you know very little about MMO life before WoW) These companies are going to continue to create WoW clones because they have seen and are still seeing how succesful the game is. Im not a WoW Fanboi and not one person can deny that blizzard has done an AMAZING job with WoW. Either that or their marketing team deserve to get payed more than the CEO'S of Blizzard.  I will probably be returning to wow after the expansion is released because im not going to pay them for 2 or 3 months gaining gear thats going to be useless anyway.

I've played a lot of MMO's, my first being Horizons when it was first released.  It took me a year or so after WOW was released to finally try it.

WOW is probably the most polished as far as animation (character, mobs, NPC etc) that I have seen in any game thus far. The little things they done like making it so you can see their breath in the cold areas, footprints in the snow etc gave the game a feel that others hadn't had.  It still is one of the most fun games to play as long as I'm just leveling a character. But once you reach level 70, all the fun goes away IMHO.

WOW has no "REAL"  PVP .. BG's or being PK'd over and over in noob zones is not PVP.  The end game is all about "GRINDING FOR GEAR!"  be it in dungeons or BG's & Arena's  I actually think the expansion ruined WOW more than it helped. I liked it much better before that but even then it had no real PVP value just fun questing to me.

WAR offers "REAL"  PVP .. with meaning ... thats enough for me to leave in and of its self.  Also the fact that I hear that "GEAR" isnt as big a deal in WAR as it is in WOW,  before expansion in WOW you could win based on skill and not what the other person had. Now with ARENA  and all the GEAR driven raids etc, a person can just win because of the gear they have and the gear you lack.

I could go on about other things, but thats the main reason I'm leaving WOW for WAR .. I left WOW For AOC, very disappointing .. Tried EQ2, Vanguard, and all because WOW just doesn't have what it is to keep me paying to play their game, if all you  are into is PVE and Raiding for gear, then it might be the best game out there; just isn't enough for me.

I think the big reasons are just people being tired of playing WOW because it's been out so long, and the RVR is better than WoW's PVP.

Pretty close to what I would say, too.

WAR may turn into a treadmill of sorts, but WoW is already there.  It's been there.

WoW needs 'more' to keep me interested.  I haven't seen anything major in a long time.

I agree that the newness has worn off of WoW. Although they will add more flavor with the DK's quests, I just get bored faster with the new content.  Most people I know are ready to leave WoW, but they are just waiting for a decent MMO. I hope WAR lives up to what I think it will be.

I got bored with WOW and endless grind...

I want success for WAR. I hope that WOW will improve. FFS it is in ours best interest that there is more than one multi-milion user MMORPG on the market!!!! Too bad that AoC failed...

Good competition will force software companies to fight for us, and WE (customers) will gain from that...

EVERY successful game will push our standards a bit higher.

And they will have to put more effort to please us at the end.

Instead of stupid forum trolling and flaming, we should put more pressure at them (companies) as a gaming community, and make them work hard for our money...

Hope to see some of you at the broken gates of Inevitable City in September

As One With Darkness

Well, i left WoW after the first 15 days, it was all about quests and PvE; it was before the BC. I bought this expansion to play with some friends and give it another try, but.... It was the same large huge horrible PvE grinding; nothing interesting.

Since SWG was ruined by NGE nothing really new came, except for Vanguard, which problem was the bad launch, but I think it will be re-launched and become a Big One, as it presents many features that I missed since I left UO *a bad move*.

I'm going to WAR because is a good game, it has a splendid IP and background, gameplay is awesome and can have PvP/RvR for hours. I've spent whole days taking, loosing and re-taking Praag. Definitely, WAR is better than WoW, except if you love intense long term repetitive PvE, then WoW is your game. But not mine.

Almost all the other features of WoW seem to be superior to WAR's:

1.) Almost open world, with flying mounts where I can land wherever I want in Outland (and Northrend from level 77)

I'll agree, WoW is pretty much an open world, but thats because WoW is weak on PvP. Open world PvP games aren't exactly popular and AoC is a perfect example of why.

2.) Amazing PvE that is going to get a huge boost in WOTLK

Again, WoW is centered around PvE with some PvP, where as WAR is pretty much 1/3 PvE and 2/3 RvR.

3.) An economy with an AH

WAR will have auction houses, so this point is pretty much useless.

4.) A  huge world comparing to other MMOs

When WoW first came out, each race had their starting zones, which equated to about 2-3 zones for each race. They also had 4-5 additional zones plus dungeons for each faction. Again, zones and dungeons are more PvE centric types of gaming. WAR is about RvR and RvR only works if the players are concentrated instead of all spread out across 30 zones.

5.) Professions that finally became meaningful

I'm not even sure what you mean by this, but lets just say this. WoW took the easy way out and gave both factions the same professions. That means no balancing issues and less strategy in RvR. Sure, it's great for Blizzard, but if you want to talk about specialization of skills, WoW does not even compare to WAR. Seriously, how many professions are currently in WoW? 7? 8? WAR has 20 of what was 24 original classes, all with the same 3 trees like WoW has, so lets not even go here, because WoW doesn't have a PvP tree and WoW doesn't have Tactic Skills, WoW doesn't have guild standards and WoW doesn't have Morale abilities.

In WAR's favour: PvP and that is about it.

Well, you may say PvP is nothing, but I know quite a few people who left WoW for AoC for that very exact reason and most of them got burned by a PoS game. So I expect WAR to be sitting in the #2 spot right behind WoW within the first 3-6 months after launch.

Or are there more WAR features that will blow WoW out of the water that I don't know about? (not in the beta, only going on what I read here).

Please understand that I am not a WoW fanboy, in fact I desperately want to leave it for a superior MMO. Just have not seen one yet.

WAR isn't by more superior, because, WoW is a PvE game, which WAR is not. You need to decide what is more fun and exciting to you? I personally prefer to fight against human AI vs. sitting in the same damn dungeon, raiding the same damn bosses and not even be positive of a reward at the end of the day after spending 4-8 hours doing it.
