Pffft.  So much for MY dreams of getting my first set of tier gear again at level 11.  :(  Oh...guess I COULD have gotten it at level 10....and that's sad too, because I didn't figure out where to get it until I was 11.

Seriously....I don't see what's wrong with giving people a level or two to be "uber."  On the other hand....they really COULD nerf bright wizards a bit.  Something seems a wee bit WRONG with them being able to demolish an entire field of people with only 2 or 3 spells cast in the right order.  If they're not gonna nerf bright wizards, then they need to make the sorceress at LEAST equal in damage (and it did NOT appear to me, to be so).

/end rant

That all being said....I loved PQs and RvR....was LESS crazy about soloing PvE content.  However, once I'm guilded, I think my very FEW "so-so" feelings will change.  The game, in my opinion, isn't really comparable to WoW (which I've been playing since THEIR beta, and will continue to play).  WAR is an entirely different KIND of game, in my opinion.  I intend to continue playing both and have already purchased WAR (obviously), and have WotLK on pre-order.

I don't see any reason why there can't be TWO monster MMOs.....

Well if you are a Witch Elf Bright Wizards will look like yummy krispy kreme donuts just sitting on the shelf warm and gooey waiting for you to eat them up.  That got out of hand.

Just a little bit but it gets the point across.

I like the way the class counters work in this game, it promotes team play instead of one on one combat. My sorcerer could kill just about every class except Witch Hunters and Swordmasters who pretty much ramrodded me with reckless abandon.

If you looked at all the later core skills and masteries you could get at later levels during the beta you could see how a lot of the tactics are based on team play (example: Sorcerers get a tactic that gives their entire party a buff for 20 seconds that gives +20% to all damage every time they get a critical hit)

The tier 2 gear in tier 1 scenarios was a little absurd though, my sorcerer was doing total damage ranges just short of the entire enemy team! It really was in need of a fix.

It is because of people like him and their policies that I am not afraid to pre-order any other title I have been nervous about since Tabula Rasa which I bought off the bat.

You should have seen how they handled closed beta. It was nothing i ever seen before and i been in most of them in the last 10 years. They have always been upfront and many suggestions are now in the final game.

On a side note, we have 2 weeks and considering they seem to know what they broke and what i have seen they have done in the closed beta, there could be a truly epic patch for the open beta. In closed beta they shut down the servers for 2 weeks sometimes just to come back with a new client that had so many things fixed and changed it was hard to swallow it all.

All this talk from MJ just seems like desperate damage control from the PR war machine. It all sounds way to shady and it reallly just seems like a way to get people to buy the game anyway and then just string its customers along with more of their false promises that will never come true.

Sometimes I like trolling too.

Your post has no substance.

This coming from the guy who thinks Age of Conan is the best game out there. It's not to say WAR will be something great. But at least they acknowledge and know were the problems lie. Show me just one post were a developer from Age of Conan actually points out whats wrong with there game. I will be waiting .......... and waiting ................. and waiting ............... Kind of like that patch to fix pvp. Or those amazing power points. Lemme guess Protus, those things will come. Yes they will come, to bad no one will get to truly enjoy them. And that's if they don't fuck up more of the game.

You are welcome, i usually come here on my forum round trip before i go to bed to answer some of the questions or 'correct' some of the rumours that are around. Mostly since the NDA was lifted, i tried to not come here because i really had a hard time not answering the posts while i was still under NDA...must resist to answer post...waaaaghhh! ;)

the fact that they may remove R10 RR6 gear from T1 is crazy and not fully thought out imo. It will work out at first but once mains are established and an AH is up and running "twinking" will become an issue. As it stands right now anyone can get the gear from T2 keeps if they are R10 RR6 (really easy) and the cost is inexpensive and easily made doing rvr quests. Once they make the gear inaccessable to T1 players though then items like the following will become invaluable.

the way it worked now is that even if another player was twinked in hard to aquire gear any joesmo could get the T2 stuff and still be a contender. If that goes away then the twink factor will become a huge issue in the long run. GG for those that only see whats in front of them and not bother looking at the whole picture.

The GCD did snag me a few times in War, but that's because I wasn't used to the playstyle.

Once I got a feel for the game, and understood how it worked -- I enjoyed it very much.  Particularly, how the Sword Master operated, and doing certain moves to chain up to better ones.  However, you could go down different chains, depending on the situation.  To me, that forces the player to decide between different tactics.  If I chose a certain move, sometimes it shut down the ability to do others (by design), so it forced me to figure out what to do and when.

There did sometimes seem to be some slight lag between abilities and the manifest, but it sounds like they're aware of it.  Just needs some "tightening" up is all.  Whereas, in AoC, it was like you'd fire off a move and go to the next, and it wouldn't even registered -- then you'd have to start over, plus deal with the cooldowns.  Very frustrating.

This occurred once or twice in War, but I think it had more to do with my confusion over mob pathing.  And that sounds like it's also going to be quickly addressed.

What he said. You get a bitchload of exp every time you win a game. You cant "twink" in WAR because the character will only last for like 5 wins before he out levels the scenario.

this is food for thought. I posted this in beta forums also in case they make the /xp off option like they did in daoc.

While I do agree this game holds a certain resemblence with DAoC and many other MMO's, just becuase it was there, doesn't mean it will be here.

I felt really ownage when I became Rank 10 RN 6 with tier 2 gear owning the tier 1 battlegrounds. It's was like I was the monster on relic on superdrive because not one single player could've killed me or 4-6+. I felt unstoppable raping my enemies 1by1.

I'm afraid your wishful thinking about WoW being better than WAR (whish is pretty laughable honestly) is making you look at things with a tad of a bias.

LOL

Pure and utterly crap:

you can't measure client/server relations with keypresses. Because you only measure the client side.

You need to have full access to both machines (client/server) in order to do proper  calcualtions and unless you got administration rights on the War servers this is pure bull/shxx.

We will see how many will play the WAR PvP pace for the elderly. With or without the usual lag.

That's freakin' amazing. MJ listed all the issues I had with the game this past weekend. Good job! I already enjoyed most of what I played, so fising this stuff will certainly make the launch experience a whole lot better. Too bad other devs don't come out like this *cough* * Funcom* *cough!*

I think we learned two things in this thread. Mythic has a very good idea of how to prioritize fixes and is really trying to understand the concerns of the community and memoir is a complete troll who probably hasn't even tried the game.

This is hilarious coming out of the #1 fanboy for AOC considering how terrible Funcom is as a development company and how completely out of touch they are with the community. I mean seriously you don't believe this crap do you Protus? You have defended to the death one of the worst companies in MMO history and you are going to try to call out one of the best? Yeah right.

this game is not near what AOC is, stop comparing. and all the closed beta people have verified that the pathing was broken in the preview weekend build, and worked fine previously. these things can be fixed, Conan has more than just bugs, the overall design of the game is just horrible and poorly executed, you cant fix that unless you revamp the whole game.

I played AoC in beta, and now have played WAR in beta.  My feeling coming out of this was that WAR is more polished three weeks before launch than AoC is three months after  launch.

I had one crash all weekend, which was ironically as I was about to shut things down anyway.  Yes, there were bugs and irritations, but every single item from my list just happens to be in this writeup by Mythic.  It's very clear to me that Mythic is communicating honestly, which is something Funcom still hasn't done.

And for the record, when did AoC's NDA get lifted?  Oh, that's right:  never!  WAR's got lifted a month before launch.  Which company has something to hide?  And which company TRULY feels that their game is about ready for prime time?  I think the answer is obvious.

I'm not sold on WAR.  Mostly because of how badly I was let down by AoC.  But I liked what I played this weekend, I like where the devs seem to be going, and I have far more hope at this point than I did at the same point in time for AoC.
