The folks at Warhammer Online walked home from the Leipzig Games Convention with the title of Best Online Game of the show, beating out a number of other heavyweight contenders who were also in attendance.

In the category Best Online Game:

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning – GOA GOA (developed by Mythic Entertainment)

The creators of the online RPG legend “Dark Age of Camelot”, still so successful today, are back with “Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning”. GOA squares up to the alpha male “World of Warcraft” with spectacular visuals, innovative play modi, neat control and an enormous, appealing fantasy world.

There is no "nomination" as companies pay to get recognized in such trade shows. Warhammer was depicted several times in the GC Magazine, so I guess they paid the most to get the title. WotlK got much more attention on the show and their queue was longer, Spellborn was more innovative, Runes of Magic received better coverage and AION and many other titles AFAIK weren't even nominated ;)

ummmm ok.  You said there was no nomination, but then you said that other games weren't nominated...

Also.... There's a Leipzig Games Convention magazine?  Please point me to it, as i can't find it.

If I remember correctly Conan had all sorts of acolades in the month before and after release, look at it now.   The truth will be known in a few months.  Until then have fun with it.

Agreed, Conan won alot of awards, I wouldnt trust the 'award' thing anymore, it lacks a bit of credential after the AoC thing.

I agree, I don't trust much in most awards. It's the same not just for games but everything. Also even if there aren't money involved that doesn't mean the judges are either right at all, or enjoys the same things that I personally does. It's still interesting though, especially to know which other titles where involved.
