Twinks will not be an issue in Scenarios for one reason. YOU GET XP, and they will level out quickly  and then no longer eligible for that tier. Especially if your killing everything in your path and winning.

One simple preview weekend, and already it's 'cry Twink!'.   Heh, that sure didn't take very long.

I had to laugh at this post.

R10-11 RR6 (with a little silver in your pocket)  is every players shining hour in Tier 1. Accessible to everyone.

Those are sweet, sweet times, but you know what? They're SHORT and sweet as the saying goes.

You outlevel Tier 1 in no time at all.

These are not twinks that you are encountering, but players, just like you, who are on the brink of entering Tier 2.

Of course they should be more powerful and you know what? They should enjoy that feeling of power oh so briefly before that xp bar ticks over to level 12!

The best bit, as I've already said, is that this is readily available to EVERY SINGLE PLAYER IN THE GAME!

*edit* In fact, when I first started testing I got most classes both Order and Destruction to these levels with that gear for comparison.

He was wearing  reknown armor that you can purchase at level 10, it roughly triples your effectiveness over pvp armor.  They said that gear doesn't matter in WAR?  Don't believe it, gear matters a lot.
So what if he'll level out of the bracket due to pvp experience? He'll just be replaced by another twink tomorrow.

Kill the healers, ignore the tank.

Besides, they have morale abilities that can let them block like crazy or mitigate a load of damage.

It's not twinks, it's tactics. Tanks are just flat out hard to kill... as they should be.

He was exactly like twinks you encounter in WoW, having 3 times the health and doing a bunch of damage.

Everyone can buy this gear if you have enough money and if you find a friendly keep.  Will most people have it?  No.  There will be one or two twinks who will rule over the scenario just like in WoW.

Can it be fixed? Yes, don't sell reknown equipment or make it purchasable at lvl 12.  But it's a problem right now.

Who ever said gear doesn't matter in this game wasn't being truthful.

I honestly did not find money to be an issue in the slightest... I got that gear after a few hours gameplay with no trouble at all. Just sell your trash and pvp a bit.

The friendly keep is another issue... but they change often enough that you should be able to get one soon enough.

This is not a big deal at all. The first few levels go by so fast anyway.

Quit bitching. That gear is easily accessible by ANYBODY.

And he's a tank that had a healer, boo fucking hoo.

Go back to WoW nobody cares.

This is not twinking.  This is getting level 10 and getting the first big jump up in gear from a Tier 2 keep.  After the initial lvl 10 gear jump it is much more even.  Yes a level 6 with mediocre and horrible gear will get destroyed, but even a level 10 with the gear just from the Warcamps can contend.  This again isn't tweaking.  It is people like fingis being grossly ill equipped and fighting someone that is the best equipped they can be.  Once tier 2 starts it is a much more even playing field because everyone should be decently equipped by then.  What we have here is level 6-8's using a few pieces of armor that is less combined than one piece from the War camp.  They can easily raise the money and gear themselves out at level 6 to not be this gimp.

Don't be a gimp then complain about being gimp.

yeah what arse did  you pull that out of lol. There is no gear availability issues whatsoever. If you hit rr 6 you can buy armor from a vendor *poof* done.

I love it when people come in a forum and make stuff up about availibity issues that numerous people bugged ::rolleyes::

Sadly I have to agree with this, it is worrying to me. When I saw an Level 11 guy in scenarios, I just avoided them or ran away. I was level 8-9 for a lot of my playing and the 11 guys had renoun gear that makes them much better. When I got to level 10 I ran as fast as I could and bought most of the pieces of gear, all which were much much better than everything I had. Only reason I didn't buy it all was because I didn't have enough gold because I wasted money learning how the crafting worked. Which as an after though, renoun gear >>>> crafting a potion.

I mean its nice level 4 people can play and get upgraded to level 8-9, but with level 11 people in there too, there is no contest. And its not even a twink is the worst part. Everyone can get that gear at level 10 with renoun rank 6. Which basically makes it like WoW, where you have to be level 29 to do the BG for 20-29 areas... in order to compete anyways.

The whole reason to play at lvl 1 - 8 in the scenarios is to gain RP you dont' have to be successful at getting kills just helping to defend.  The earlyer you gain Renown Points the faster you can become viable & buy Renown Gear from the vendors.

People really don't seem to understand this.  When your lower level make your job defending more than Killing, defend the points that People take because most dumbass pugs just take the point & leave it making it impossible to win scenarios.

It's not really fun and doesn't encourage me to want to do scenerios if my point is to just be a sheep ripe for the slaughtering levels 1-9, 12-19, etc etc. I thought they designed the game so everyone can compete and take part. its real easy as mentioned before, just make the gear available at level 12. Otherwise it doesn't make it fun if you aren't the top level like I mentioned before.

Just play cleverly then! Play in support of the big guns. And really... scenarios are so short. Just go do some RvR if you have an issue with this.

I am no patsy supporter when it comes to MMOs, but this is the biggest load of whining about nothing.

Leave everything the way it is now, its fine.  You can't remove the r10rr6 gear and move it to r12.  There is already gear in place at rank 12 rr8.  If you feel your gimp and losing to the high level people go level a  little bit its not that big of an issue.  You also have to remember once that person hits 12 they are subjected to level 21 players and they cycle starts over again.

It's a Jeep thing. . .

However, my axe I got from winning first place in a Public Quest. That sucker was purple and made my jaw drop staring at the stats

That proves my point if you actually work on PQ's you can get better rewards than you can from a renown vendor, simply because you have the chance to get blue and purple items. Other than better armor and resistance the stats aren't  a whole scale off from most green drops you get like they are in WoW.

Did the Orc look like this?

On that note, level 11 players wont be the worst part of senarios. Those belong to guild groups who destroy all PUGs like no ones business. The nice thing about WAR is that you get xp for pvping, thus, eventually that lvl 11 will be forced to move on.

Totally agree! It's great to enjoy a feeling of being powerful for a couple of short hours in tier one.

Its all about the challenge reward.

You had challenge for a while, now a brief bit of reward. But it doesn't last and soon enough you are back as a small fish in a big pond again.

This game has the psychology of humans down pretty well I think. Its very nicely designed.

I think people who play so they can go "I can compete woot I got 50x kills don't necessarily help out well with actually 'winning' the scenario.   Scenarios that have objectivies other than 'kill' can not be won by killing alone.  They're won by taking objective points and defending them but most often I noticed Noobs to wAR and just random PUGS playing for 'the kill' and we'd always damn lose.  You get tons of RP for frigging winning the scenario the win should be more important than your personal kill gains.

My friend and I gained several ranks & lots of xp at level 1 just defending the points people would take and leave.  I compete'd just fine against people who were no more than 4 to 5 levels higher than me but then I was smart and I played as a team with my friend ..stragglers met their doom against a brightwizard and a witch hunter.

Please write down all your toons names Cereo so I can avoid Scenarios with you in them.

This thread was born from pure ignorance. (and I'm not meaning to insult the OP there...)

This preview weekend the majority of people were new and just don't know the ins and outs of the game yet, it's that simple...

Some people grasp things and find out about RR gear before others, heck it took me a while when I first started testing, I remember asking a guy 'hey, where did you get that sick armor?' and he was kind enough to explain.

Once I found out about the RR gear and how it's so available as you rank up in RvR the game made a whole lot more sense to me.

Gear dependant? Well, umm, yeah if you didn't figure out that you can go to the same vendor I did and get the same gear, then I'm going to pound you into the ground.

I dont think the OP knows what Twink means or how it got its strong hold in MMRPG's.  In EQ a twink was getting gear drops from mobs lvl 50+ and giving it to your lvl 1 player.  New mmos prevent this by having level caps for your gear (must be certain lvl to use) therefore everyone has the chance to equal everyone if they work for it at that lvl.  No more give super awesome lvl 60 drops to a lvl 1 and own!

Currently Playing: Nothing (waitinf for WAR)

Anyone can get this gear and its not hard or expensive to do.  I really don't see the issue.  I had 8 gold by level 12 and buying the best renown equipment I could didn't even dent it.

The gear from Renown Vendors is good.  However, for RvR, the gear there has more resists for those types of encounters.  After this weekend, I actually carried my RvR gear and my PvE gear and would switch it out depending on what I was doing.  I got owned continuously until I found out about the gear that I could buy at the Keep.  Once I had that gear on, I took a lot less damage and had a ton of fun.

BTW, funniest thing is the message in the resurrection box "You have died!  Don't worry, it's part of the game!" (something along those lines).  I thought that was great and smiled at each death.  Not to mention, you actually get a title from dying...

Anyway, there is no reason to complain about gear.  I had a blast earning different pieces of gear from the PQs and RvR.  If I was being overpowered in RvR, I'd simply back off and use a new tactic.  It isn't just gear that makes a character great, it's the player running it.  Focus more on your playstyle, maybe you just need to change it up a bit.  Oh, and get that gear when you hit the required ranks (it looks nice too!).

As everyone else said, that's not a twink.  It'll happen again with the Rank 21 / RR 11 armor.  Those tanks will be beasts and it'll be a pain to take 'em down with melee dps, especially with at least one healer.  That's when you use your rdps to kill them while the melee go in and kill the healers.  If you have a tank available, then you can keep that beast snared while also putting guard on your healer/nuker if he's being hit.

As an Ironbreaker, I love groups like yours.  I can keep 3-5 people occupied by strafing around and draw them away from the capture points.  They'll be hitting me while someone on my team captures the point and takes them down.  If my team was just killed or scattered, that's an excellent time to regroup and dominate.

I never heard someone say gear didn't matter.  It was often said  in AoC, but that's because everything was bugged.  You can certainly see how much gear matters if you deck out a healer  in toughness stats, his survivability nearly doubles.  A lot of them will go INT to do damage (silly healers) or WIL to increase healing, but if they die, they aren't doing much healing, are they?  Strafing healers + Insta cast HoT's win many scenerios

Many people believe this game is all about zerging, but if you stop and use a few tactics, you might be surprised at how well you'll do.

This post is kind of a joke.  As people have said, anyone can get the reknown rank 6 gear by going to any keep your side owns.  Money is not hard to come by (and it's actually easy if you get scavenging as a tradeskill.)  Sure a guy at level 10 will RR6 gear will have an advantage- thats because a lot of people don't even have greens in all their armour spots yet.  Does that mean you can't compete?  No.  I have on numerous occasions been low level for my tier and been in the top 3 for dps/experience gained/ kills etc.  As to the term twinks... I mean, I think it took me about 8-10 scenarios to level up from 10-12.  This was with me doing no PvE on the side.  I only had a few  hours before i was going to bed at the end of Preview Weekend and wanted to RvR only until i was done.  The main difference between a level 10 and a level 9 is - good abilities at level 10 for every class and you get to fill in any missing items with RR6 gear.

I read the first 3 pages of this thread.

I got to level 8 in the couple hours I could play, and most of that was in scenarios.  I was the melee priest on the order side.  I also played a human mage on the order side to level 4.

The level 4 mage most commonly placed 2nd or 3rd for total damage done.  I'm not sure how the overall best player is calculated, but being a dps class, I thought that was pretty good, especially for a level 1-4 char!

The warrior priest was almost always the #1 or #2 in total amount healed.  Also, although I did not do much combat, on 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 fights, the priest held his own.  I did encounter a few of those heavy armor guys, but meh, I could tank them healing myself.  With two of them I would have to detaunt one of them, usually the one that looked more like dps type.  The fight would be won by who got the most amount of assistance fastest.

I never felt underpowered, I almost always had a lot of fun.  The times that I would get destroyed was when facing a zerg, and that is to be expected.  In those cases, I just rezzed and went to my zerg.

I don't see the issue.  The guys are not twinked, as a level 9 and below character you still contribute a lot, and to be honest, from level 1 I felt like an important part of the team.  I think the scenerio system is very well thought out and I enjoyed myself.
