"We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand" - Randy Pausch

Many here will say that the game doesn't exist, or that if it does that its terrible. But the people that have been to the studio and played it have confirmed that it does exactly what the developers say it does. They now have an official, and well established/known European publisher, and have announced a release date of 2008, possibly starting in Europe first.

It's amazing how they're no reporters who are allowed to play the game, but random fans that by the office can.

They haven't proven anything yet; and that is the problem.  They make high claims about this and that, but have failed to prove any of it.  Things like seiges, city buiolding, etc., have never been seen, they are just words.

Adventurine hasn't, and probably can't, prove any of their claims.

First off, the company is AVENTURINE, credibility already took a shot. And the last person that was at the studio actually had to LEAVE because real reporters were coming in. Also, a video was taken of the Darkfall presentation at the Greek gaming convention and put on youtube by the person there. That same person has also confirmed that his magazine is to have exclusive Darkfall interviews in the coming months. You like to bash it, but in reality you have no idea what you're talking about.

No, I'm being realistic.  They still haven't proven any of their claims, which no other developer has been able to do.  If they hadn't been lying and have had a long development cycle like this for seven years, it wouldn't be a problem.

They have put on so much false hope to all of their fans, release, beta, etc...until they actually do it, I'm in doubt.

I'm sooo tired of telling people the game started development in 2003 when the 5 programmers who started the basic mechanics of the game, on old tech, with limited resources, was merged into another company in Greece.

Darkfall started its development in 2003 under Aventurine. The Razorwax concept was still there, but there is no way any of the code is.

Please, enlighten me on how you seem to have come to this conclusion, even though Frog just gave you the development history.

I'll wait.

P.S.  If Tasos said this it doesn't count.

I'm not saying Darkfall even exists (although I wish it did) but to be fair wikipedia isn't exactly the most reliable source of information either.

Actually..

Tasos on 22 August 2008
There's a video coming out, most probably next week, or shortly after. We’re talking about a long 100% in-game pure gameplay trailer with no scripting, no simulation, no post-processing. It’s us play-testing while fraps is running on free cameras and playercams and all the footage was collected and edited. The scenarios for it had to be run as part of our testing and development schedule as they came up. Nothing is scripted. We wanted to give you something that can put you in the true spirit of the game and this requires us to be actually playing the game like you would be, and not just taking you on a sightseeing tour or have a company make a marketing cinematic trailer for us.

There's nothing else around the horizon that is going to be good.  I think that people who suggest Aion will be good... have not played any of the free mmo's available out there.

Myself? Well, after I beat Spore\get tired of it... I have no idea.  Anime is only a small part of my life, even though I sometimes watch 9-16 series per season (subbed anime, not adult swim BS)

WTF!~  All you can do (if you don't have a game CURRENTLY and do not want to play warhammer) is wait for something else to arrive.... Months and months of waiting.  Only to be possibly let down even more.

Tell me your thoughts!

I don't think Warhammer sucks, but I'm not going to play it. I'm just getting too many 'deja vu' feelings with Warhammer.

As far as what I'm going to play...No MMO, which is a pitty, since I like playing games together with other people. Going to go the SP games route until something innovative comes out in the MMO genre. I guess that will take at least a couple of years, before MMO devs stop pooping 'generic MMO #3267'.

Spore is coming out. Not sure yet if I want to dish out 50 Euros to rent a game (DRM issues there; I upgrade and reinstall too often for only 3 DRM-type installs of Spore). The Witcher is coming out with an enhanced version, so I am going to replay the main adventure, plus the new mods that are added.

Also bought a Wii some months ago. Yes, shoot me for that; it's the first console I ever bought and to be honest, I am having more fun on the Wii right now than playing on my PC. Want to finish Boom Blox and get 'all gold' on all levels. Also, I am playing Top Spin 3 a lot. And I'm thinking of getting Mario Kart instead of Warhammer Online. Also, Spore is coming out on Wii some day, and I won't have DRM issues there. Also hyped about Overlord 2 and Overlord for the Wii. Loved Overlord, and I am really looking forward to it.

Google "MMORPGMaker" if you want to make your own MMORPG.

You're right. It's not like a free MMORPG, because you have to pay for it.

Still looks like an Asian Grinder though.
