pre order only |

It's their definition of "open". Meaning they'll only let a set amount of people in. I believe pre-order gurantees you access? |

Open beta is open to everyone. This is only a pre-order beta, not open. |

quoted because its true. All open-beta means is that the NDA, or Non Disclosure Agreement you testers sign, is lessened or removed, and are allowed to speak about aspects of the game no longer forbidden by the NDA. Open-beta doesnt mean anyone can join in, it just means that those who werent able to get in, can learn a little more about the game and what is happening in it. |

Originally posted by vinwiesel This was already discusses in a not long ago thread. You can search for it (I think it was just yesterday). Multiple opinion in favor and against your opinion. But, in the end, if you want to call it preorder beta, be my guest. I am happy they lifted NDA... which was the last company to do that during beta?

Wish is was a beta open to everyone. I wanted to try it out in beta before I spend money on it. Not sure If im gonna pre order or not..... IM getting tired of buying a game and hating it. Dont want another game to end up in the graveyard of crap MMO's. Maybe I'll give it a try cuz I always like to judge games for my self and not others.

Thats the reason why an Open-Beta only means NDA is lifted or lessened. They dont want people signing up for the open-beta who just are interested in trying the game, and 5 minutes later end up bitching on some forum about how there is no PvE and graphics suck and there is bugs. Its for polishing and nit-picking bugs out of the game. |

There is no "discussion" or "opinion", L2read

No. Read what I said. If they had something to hide, the NDA would still be in full effect and no one would know much right now. The reason an open-beta is called open because there is no NDA restriction, not because its for everyone. And they dont need some retarded 13yr old to go into the open beta, play 5 minutes, and start complainin that there is bugs when the game isnt even released yet. They dont need retards in the beta, plain and simple. |

I would have thought it'd be about money. Limiting an Open Beta to people who have pre-ordered surely saves a lot of bandwidth, especially considering the amount of people wanting to try this game. So spending money on potential customers sounds logical. I'm just hoping they'll do the same for EU customers. -iCeh |

The beta was more of a perk to pre-ordering. Consider it as an award to the person's investment of the game. Most games, when they go into an open-beta, doesnt mean its completely open, it just means that the NDA is removed. Its a common mistake though because of the wording, but that is how I always understood it, and that is what it usually means. |

Yea, I understand what you're saying. I was just theorising the pre-order OB access decision. I would also guess that by limiting to pre-order customers, Mythic will have almost an exact number of people who'll be playing, so they'll be able to guestimate how many servers to put up. And again, with the amount of people interested in this game, they've probably learned a big lession from WoW, as the amount of testers for that game overwhelmed them and put too much of a strain on the servers. So, it makes perfect sense to do it the way they've done it. Beta testing should be much more efficient and, as you say, will make a more enjoyable experience for everyone when they get their little reward for pre-ordering. -iCeh |

That is true, so I guess I will be pre ordering, hopefully it will be a good game we need one for 2008.
