I went over to the official forums and started reading a post about downtime caused due to implementing this new feature into the game, i thought to my self that was shocking enough itself. Then i started reading that some players have been spending over 100 dollars to try to get loot items and where complaining that they only got 3 decent cards, you can see that people will get drawn into this trading card scam and it will become an obsession for some, or addiction for others or worse the show off types could waste hundreds of there parents income, and there would be nothing the parent could do as if you read the terms of purchase there not actualy buying anything, more like renting as you do not own the cards in question. I think soe should at least change terms so the buyer owns the card, after all if you buy trading cards like card ones in the shop at least you get the card, and it yours. |

Precisely why I'm against RMT's! It's all designed to leech more cash out of the consumer, and in this case not really adding to a deeper and more meaningful gaming experience IMO. This tells me that SoE isn't interested in a better game experience, but rather a better profit margin. |

What I found interesting is that the 'loot' cards and the resulting items (this applies to all free cards I think) a player may get in the free booster packs are 'no trade', but the ones players actually buy are tradable. That makes these loot cards rather expensive carrots to dangle in front of the die hard fanbois that just have to have that new 'shiny'. Kind of reminds me how the fanbois and farmers were the biggest investors in the Buddy Token system. Well, if there are going to be players fleeced, then I cannot think of more deserving targets - the fanboi who is willing to part with his cash and/or the stupid parent willing to pay to keep junior happy. |

I got into Beta for the card game on 2 of my accounts, out of the free cards I got were 3 loot cards. I have no interest in the actual game and because of that I will receive for free 5 booster packs each month for each of my accounts. Only the people really interested in the actual game or those that can't wait to get the loot they want will buy cards. Oh and all ANY company wants is money from it's customers, it's not just a SoE thing. |

When the SoE brand is increasingly seen as cheap, disposable and superficial the last thing I would think they'd want to do is inflate that image by incorporating even more methods of cheap profit making. I think people would generally find it much more honorable for a company to make their profits by simply making a superiour game. |

This is but another sad attempt to wring the last few possible $$$ from a product about to be "sun-setted". How much $$$ did they spend on this wart on the azz of SWG, that could have been spent fixing many still broken elements of this formerly great game? Probably a lot. Going to help game subs any? Ha. Not. Going to make mommy and daddy lock up their credit cards a little better? Likely. If there is any more proof needed that $OE has given up on the "adult, mature" player base that SWG once had, in favor of the kiddies, let this be it. Another coat of paint on a sinking ship. P.S. Oh, and according to the O forums, this new "addition" to the game has caused many more frequent client crashes for a lot of people, and caused new problems with the game code. Seems just like the $OE we all know....

Gutboy , I can respect that you will only take the free cards, but you have to look past the smoke screen the free one's are not tradeable so i hear, so if you want for eg, the super all singing and dancing new can only get from trade cards "purchased" ultra death ray waterpistol: Its time to play SOE real hard earn cash lottery and hope the twisted system somehow gives you a lucky purchase, which it wont most likely. Reminds me of buying scratch cards for some reason, i really do not think its is ethical to condone this manner of trading, for a childrens game, at least i think its a childs game now. no offence just my opinion! |

I see some people defend the TCG by pointing out that the items people obtain will not affect the gameplay in any adverse kind of way. What I think these people are not seeing is that SoE is slowly easing people into this. I believe that as time goes by the items in the TCG will become much more important to gameplay. Especially if subscriber numbers slowly decrease. They will want to couteract the decling profits by increasing the effectiveness of the card items and making them more appealing to buy. Afterall let's not forget - Gameplay may change.

5 free booster packs per month for each account, the fact that they are no trade is fine by me, I will eventually get the loot I would like for free. Today a guildy logged in, got into the beta and 1 of the loot cards he got was the pod-racer, sounds just like the movies and man is it fast. Do you guys "warn" the EQ2 players as well about this card game since it's there as well? |

You're right Gutboy, someone should. I personally don't feel "qualified" however as I've never been an active participant in the EQ2 community. At least with the SWG community I feel somewhat connected to, and feel I can more adequately express my concerns. By comparison I must ask if you go to the EQ2 forums tro discuss how pleased you are with the TCG in SWG? |

Oh great, a card game in SWG. how much crappier can they make the game sheesh. SoE wants money we all know that it was even posted earlier but what I don't see is why people are actually buying into this. The only thing I can think of is because they're die-hard fans and won't cancel their misury with SoE and go to a new game. Also the fact that the game might die any moment because there isn't really anymore people playing just gives subscribers even more evidence that they are just wasting their money. I know EQ2 also has a card game and I know it also isn't that popular over there either. ------------------------------ |

I say "free" because they appear in my account, and the accounts subscription fee does not change. |
