is the question asked by so many naysayers. are you serious? so now it's the video game industries fault that there are a lack of solid MMOs out there? and WAR is a worse game because these MMO's that don't exist are better than WAR? well when you and your company makes  that uber mmo that you are imagining please let me beta test it.

here is the typical post i keep seeing from naysayers,

"Also, I totally agree with your disappointment on some of the WoW cookie-cutter stuff. In particular, I was very disappointed with the combat. It's straight EQ, WoW, pretty-much-every-other fantasy MMORPG click-and-wait styled combat. "

please tell me about this "innovative" combat system you imagine? i dont get you people. your complaining about the combat and all, but dont mention what they could have done to make the combat better? please tell us about this revolutionary combat system?

people are talking out of there ass about all this wow cookie cutter and clones this. like i said are you going to develop a better more innovative game. WARHAMMER IS GREAT!

Mythic actually was developing WAR prior to Wow, and according to the Mythic folks I talk to at the 2007 E3 show Wow robbed thier graphics. In short all games borrow what they feel works as a standard, I guess Toyota cuts and pastes alot of the controls that Ford made so they are inferior? Industry finds what works and sticks with it until a new improved system comes along.

To learn how to use a sword, one must first master when to use a sword.

If you want innovation, go play EVE or something. People use these terms like, "Why don't they reinvent the wheel?" There is no need to reinvent the wheel. It's worked great for all these years, and if you reinvented it it most likely wouldn't work as well.

Often elves forsake intimate relationships with humans, denying love, because they know, logically, that it can not be, in the frame of elven time, a long-lasting partnership. Alas, a philosophy doomed to mediocrity. We need to be reminded sometimes that a sunrise lasts but a few minutes. But its beauty can burn in our hearts eternally.

Mythic got the license in 2005 and Blizzard stole no art style.

Those who are so blinded by "I want something new NOW" will never be happy with any game genre. All game genres have a certain style - you wouldn't call Age of Empires a FPS, would you? Of course not. The lines can be blurred with some games, sure, and there's room for innovation, but it almost never comes with a single game.

For example, I believe Public Quests will be a staple of all future MMOs, or a system very similar to it (more polished and worked out of course). Would we call these games WAR clones? Knowing the MMO community, probably. But they're successful and they're a good feature. If you could take something that's functional and you make it better, why wouldn't you?

If you made something from scratch and it failed to meet expectations, would you be happy?
