Having played only this weekend, I did have a quick one to ask. As a DAOC vet, I see the 3 paths that any class can go down, in Daoc you could spec anyway you feel. 50/20, 31/31/31 (or close), 47/26 etc. spreading out different specialization paths. Can this be done in WAR as well? Or do you have to pick a spec and stick with it to the end (respecing if need). While the other 2 specs are just baseline only? Thanks for the thoughts. |

What speccing does is make spells that fall within that spec more effective, with each spec focusing on different areas while also granting more powerful abilities that are unavailable to other specs. You can still use abilities and spells from different spec lines that are generally available from the Core training. An example from the Witchhunter line: As a witch hunter, I have 3 paths to choose from: Confession, Inquisition, and Judgement. Confession is focused on Toe to Toe fighting, giving bonuses to resistances and damage ability. Inquisition focuses on longer-duration weakening effects. Judgment focuses on stealth and positional effects. In the core group, you have spell abilities that belong to a certain path, because they do the type of dmg that the path focuses on, but anyone following any path can use them. It's just that someone following the path it falls under will do more damage and be more effective with those skills. But, each path also has 7 unique abilites unavailable to the other paths. To give an idea, here's the highest ability in each path: Confession - 800 dmg to anyone in front of them within 80 feet. Inquisition - Target is unable to be affected by heals for 15 seconds. Target and anyone within 30 feet of them will suffer 635 dmg over 15 seconds. Judgment - Deals 800 dmg over 10 seconds to all enemies within 30 feet and snares them, reducing run speed by 60%. |
