I'm really looking forward to play WAR. I'm a big fan of PvP (and RvR) and pretty sure WAR will deliver the gods :)

But as always, sometimes it's nice to fall back to some regular PvE and Quests. So how good are the PvE/Quests compared
to WOW, LOTR and EQ2.

I find the PvE/Quests in LOTR and WOW to be very good. I love the scripted quests that are fun and got a touch for humor.

Here was my respose to a troll saying PvE was bad.

You don't need to spend days in PvP to do the bastion stairs dungeon, and the hidden vale, and the crypts below each city. which are 3 full T4 dungeons with bosses PQs and lots of loot. Although they do have a good amount of trash mobs but thats mythics style.

and for T2 you have the sewers of altdorf and something else in Deso city(I play order). and then in T3 you have mount gunbad which is another dungeon. and those are just the dungeons which are already full of mobs and loot which couldn't be said for alot of games on release.

There is also tons of PQs which IMO are not that interesting until T4 when they are more than just stupid kill a few mobs then kill some champs then kill a hero, although there is a few gems out in the lower tiers.

Then you have the hundreds of quests in this game. ranging from the normal go to town and then go kill some things to the random help this wizard with a spell who then blows himself up and you just take his boots.

and then there is the tome with all its unlocks that you can get just from exploring and trying to see everything, I don't remember a game where I randomly walked into the mountains to see a person sitting next to a book who then turned into a giant demon and attack me then I got an unlock from the book about the history and lore of said demon.

and one last thing are lairs, they are not really finished yet but I have found one, they are really hard to find and you have to solve a puzzle to get into them.

But like you said compared to other games their instances are lacking.

not like WoW had any real raids on release.

and you win, I'm sorry I called you a fanboy

All 3 of the games you mentioned are focused in PvE unlike Warhammer. I'd suggest trying another game if you want a great PvE experience. But if you just want something to fill your time the PQs will do just that.

I've been playing a Greenskin shaman, and I must say the quests are great... they were somewhat "humourous" right off the bat, so I actually read the quest text. I would say they are presented the same way as wow and lotro though, so I don't know if you could actually call them better... they don't seem as tedious I guess, that's a plus. The public quest system is amazing though, LOTS of fun.

The PVE in all 3 of them games is wayyyyyy better than whats to offer in WAR. Pretty much in WAR from levels 1 - 40 of PVE you'll be doing quests like WOW has in it's starting zones. The only thing WAR has over the other mmorpgs is public quests which once you have max inf then theres no point doing them and they get boring after the 2nd time anyways.

Really in WAR you'll wanna be leveling up on scenarios and RVR.

EQ2 - Fantastic immersive PVE which makes use out of its engine but poor PVP.

WOW - Lots of variety and the most polished PVE which a good mix of PVP and a great combat system. Death Knight quests are amazingly fun too and just bring its PVE to another level.

LOTRO - Great for fans of LOTR otherwise you wont like it because it follows the lore soo well and they sacrifice gameplay because of it which will turn non fans off and the game has poor PVP too.

WAR - Poor PVE but a great PVP system in place, all the game needs is balanced and bug fixing and sorting out the pace of combat because it is slow and theres a lag to hit skills.

I will suggest if you come from WOW then to try rogue in WAR because it'll make you feel more at home than the other classes.

Google "MMORPGMaker" if you want to make your own MMORPG.

I thought the PvE and PvP mix in DAoC was just right. The hard part is getting the PvP right, so if that's good in WAR, they can always add dungeons, and more PvE later.

it's funny... for months you get people complaining WAR is going to be just like WoW and then when it turns out to be a 100% different game everyone crys its not like WoW....
