Is it just me or are the graphics really not that good? I feel like they are on the same level as DAoC. I tried to set graphics options but there really was none. It just said: "PVE: High" and that is the extent of it.

I have 2 Nvidia 8800GTs and I really don't like the graphics right now. They bother me because they are all jagged as if someone didn't polish them off.

Help? Anyone know how to set them higher?

From what I've read, everyone is set between low-medium, no matter what you pick.  The custom options will be in for retail.  Maybe open beta as well, but they haven't said anything about that.

I don't think the beta has any high res graphics right now. Wait till release.

As mentioned many many times before.  Beta is not intended to test computers, it is there to test the game.  There are no graphic adjustments available in the beta that is why everything looks the same.  They wanted the game running at the same level on everyones PC making it a lot easier to isolate issues.

As a side note, force AA and AF in your video card settings.  This will help smooth out some of the graphic issues.

The gfx options are only in the retail verson of the game, but you have Nvidia cards. Using your computers gfx settings you can improve this enormously by forcing AA on. Do that and you will see a differance.

If you set AA too high you will lose a lot of FPS.  AF really doesn't have much of a detrimental effect.

Hmm, ok. My control panel doesn't have those options but it does have an Nvidia control panel where you can set it to "Quality" over "Performance" so I did that.

At the very top of your Nvidia control panel there should be a selection for standard menu and advanced menu.  Click advanced menu and it should open up all graphic options.

I have a 2.8Ghz, 2Gig RAM, 7800 GS Nvidia and the game plays nicely. With the 'medium' style graphics it allows for a wider range of gaming systems, thus a wider demographic of players.

When I did that little fiddling with Nvidia, my graphics became awesome. I am really enjoying the game and kicking ass in it too.

Maybe i'm crazy but the graphics look better to me today than they have in the past.

Was there some graphic update in the latest patch?

The funny thing is i actually feel more drawn to the game now that i think it looks good. Guess i am a graphics whore after all.

I'm not saying it can't be true that graphics are locked on low. I kinda hope they are. What I am saying is until I see a way to increase their quality in the game, I and many others should assume what we're seeing now is it. It's called being a skeptic and not believing unfounded hype.

This talk of settings locked to low reeks of "magic retail patch" deception. Now I honestly think the art designs are for the most part okay, and I don't need eye candy if gameplay is good. I'm just calling a spade a spade.

Whether you like it or not, graphics are an integral part of any MMO experience - if the game looks like an absolute piece of shit (pardon my French), I don't care what kind of gameplay it can supposedly deliver (it won't matter if my eyes are literally bleeding from their sockets). I'm starting to get really tired of the shallow attacks conducted on people because of their understandable concern facing the viability of graphics (in this case, you rather immaturely suggest that he would enjoy a shallow gaming experience from something like AoC because he is merely concerned about the graphics). Sheesh, get a grip. If you consider gameplay to be the main feature of any MMO, then why don't you go play a MUD or something - gauging the current popularity of the MUD , I'm sure there are "plenty" of people just like you.

Are you really this simple? Okay, let my dumb down my post.

Don't make promises in these threads if they can't be backed up with fact. Posting "trust us" just doesn't cut it. Many people trusted the AoC fans too about concerns raised in that game.

If anyone has a link to a developer talking about the graphics being locked on low I think it would be very helpful in reducing the quantity of threads on this subject.
