PQs work well when you have enough people for them. They're like mini-raids that anybody can join. They need to be scalable for population levels though. As implimented in Warhammer right now, they're not going to do so well after the initial crowd moved on past the levels they're set at. You're going to end up with people having to shout out in chat to form a large enough group of people to do it, and when that happens, the PQ will lose what makes it unique.

Not all content should be soloable. Some things should require a measure of cooperation and socialization. However, that content shouldn't be required to advance.

Ok....

On this particular day I was using my Disciple of Khaine(AdrienKarr, all my chars names end with "Karr" so look for me if you want to team up or get a beat down) to run through a few missions in the Blighted Isle (lvl 1-5) when I come across a few guards standing around and looking all tough. I decide walk closer because obviously the mission i wanted to complete was somewhere close by, when I got close I saw a timer counting down and immediately i got scared, not knowing what it was I ran away thinking "Wow definitely should keep away from PvP zones till i get used to this game" but suddenly i turn around and a dragon appears, then i'm thinking "Oh **** EVERYBODY RUN!!!". But as soon as i that thought ran through my mind, about five players came down heavy on the dragon.....so i joined in. And seeing as i was a DoK I was able to withstand most of the attacks by the dragon while others kept getting pummeled to their death I kept pummeling to death and at the end I got this flood of yellow and green coloured xp and influence points and money sound pings that filled me with satisfaction. On a normal day you would expect that i wouldnt get any loot because I came late to the party...but I did...maybe i dealt more damage to the big guy than others but who cares? You cant complain when you get sweet loot.

This sounds alot like what CoX did a long while back.  They have alot of stuff like this in close to every zone.  Maybe it's not quite as epic.. then again I don't know, I haven't played WAR yet.  I loved it in CoH though... defeating big monsters with a bunch of different groups.  Sounds like a lot of fun.

Never said they should be soloable. But six months after release this is going to be a problem because most people won't be working their ways through the lower levels anymore.

Yea, is a mayor feature that i hope all mmos clone.  And make it better... I have read all the thread, and maybe will be slighty less cool on release. So something need to be made, to make the magic we know and love about PQ's repeat.

Theres also a type of PQ that I love: Shared PQ.  The perfect mix of PvE en PvP.

Reference WoW and the number of people who reroll. Now consider that lower tiers help dictate which faction dominates the endgame. While you may have to shout to gather a few people to tackle the portions of a PQ which aren't soloable, I highly doubt that low tier PQs will be unplayable six months post release.

For those of you that have has a chance to play in Public Quests you will have to admit it is the funniest form of quest you have ever seen in a MMO.

The PQ's are Epic from the start of the game and just keep coming as you move into the world.

The question is..

Do you think that Public Quests will become a new standard in up coming MMORPG's?

Also.. if you could share a Public Quest Experiance with everyone to let them know why they are so awsome!!

One of the most inovative things to hit the MMORPG market in years. Yes, im afraid it will be copied...... even by (braces for the flames) WOW <OMG>

it will not take WoW much time to copy this idea i think.

they will call it something like..... "Cooperative Quests" or something dumb like that

I really don't get how people see MMOs taking good things from other MMOs and adding them to theres is a bad thing. That is what this game is built on for god's sake. Wouldn't it mean it's a good thing if WoW added in PQs? It's kind of ironic when people say WoW is a copycat of WAR or the other because both are equally copycats. And it's going to do pretty well for them (one of them at least, we don't know about the other).

Not going to reference WoW in this, because I seriously doubt this game will have the shear numbers of players that WoW can bring to bear.
