Star Trek Online

This is just my opinion and I don't mean to offend anyone. I respect everyones views of this game, but I can't help but call "train-wreck" on this one. Here are the top 10 reasons why.

1) A not designed with ST fans in mind.

2) Going the way of the Console.

3) Cryptics engine sucks bad.

4) Some fan favorite races are being left behind.

5) Low Bargan Basement Budget.

6) Bad Community, MOST of which are kids.

7) Single server Rule Sets

8) Simple simon UI

9) No respect for Cannon

10) Over-zealous fan-boi wanna-bes that have the devs ears.

You could be right, but lets wait and hold off on any judgements until more info comes out though.

It is way to early to tell how the game will turn out as of now. The developer does seem to be very enthusastic about the game from what I have read. They have also been able to put out a trailer showing game play after a very short amount of time in developement. The video did not look very good however, but with over a year of development it could turn out well.

A few complaints from the OP that i will mention though however are that a game can be made for console and pc and still be enjoyable. "Cryptics engine sucks bad," gota love the level of education used in writing that, but what part of the engis is poor. Game engines can be modifed greatly and made to show a variety of art styles. As for community, from what I have seen on the official forums everyone is respectful and vary adult. The developers are going to have a hard time with the game to get all the races in there, and the fans are very demanding. This has got to be one of the hardest properties to work with so I think we can cut them some slack on that front.

Lets all just wait and see how it turns out before we pass judgement on a game that has only been in developemt a few months.

I do not know.   I do not think we can expect mmo's to always start out as big as older mmo's which have been built up and expanded several times.  They have alot of area to expand and keep adding to a game of this nature.  I will look at it on release and make a call then at this point.

Well, at first I thought you were joking...

No respect for canon? Not designed for ST fans? Where do you get this from? Everyone on the dev team is a fan of Star trek, and even those who aren't already are being made to watch an entire series or read the novels to get absorbed into it. They ARE making this game primarily for trekkies, but obviously trying to appeal to mass sci-fi/mmo market too - that doesn't mean the game will be just another MMO with a star trek skin.

Of course you're entitled to your opinions but I'm not sure where you're getting these from.. low budget? Mostly kid community? Fan races left behind? I'd say it's the opposite..

Posting in colors does not make you sound intelligent. :( I'd say Star, Trekked you out!
