Age of Conan

LOL. I just read this on the guy's blog:

The zones are a brown mess. It looks like someone took a UPS uniform, crapped in it, and threw it in a blender with some grass.

I remember playing AO and being amazed by the graphics. AoC looks like the town in Monty Python where the guy yells "bring out yer dead!"

 

If the game "runs fine", how come every forum about AoC has 5000000 threads "will it run" or "the game doesn't run." LOL.

 

And sorry, the combo system is not "fine." Making people press 4 buttons "just because we feel like it" is not a combo system. Play a fighting game and you'll see a real reason for a combo system.

 

 

I play the game on a server that is still well populated and it does run well..with the occasional lag spike... and if you think the graphics are dull and boring then you haven't played the game.

People like you are the people writing the negative forums. Most people who like the game are playing it.

I pointed out some of the real problems with this game (and it has plenty).

Someone who just wants to hate without a valid reason. I strongly doubt you have a lvl 80 character on any server.

If I judged WoW on the way Goldshire looked and left the game saying "Its all forest with spiders and pigs..its awful !!" I'd be horribly wrong. You can't judge a game from the beginning and be accurate.

I strongly doubt you played past the first month.

I have real complaints about the game..if you want it to run well then don't play it on a 3 year old system with a bad internet connection.

How is that my fault? The game sucks too badly to play for more than a month.

As for leveling up to 80.... wtf? I also don't drive railroad spikes into my skull. I generally avoid painful behavior like that.

Folks, even the screenshots for this game look like crap. And those are the photoshopped, "perfect" versions of the game the devs put out. Like the guy said, its a brown mess.

I never knew you could use so many shades of brown in a single game before I played AoC.

And its awesome how everyone runs around in brown rags with unbent clothes hangers for weapons.

The combo system doesn't suck because its hard to use. It sucks because it requires extraneous key presses for no actual gameplay gain.

I guess I was lucky I didn't get the game in the first place due to my luck of getting into late beta.

Pretty much AoC felt like an Alpha build just a few weeks before the acutal release. Compared to WAR which was solid many, many months ago.

Yes. You are indeed very lucky. The unlucky ones are folks like me who love MMOs and usually try them all out.

I won't go into experience since I can pull any number out of my nether regions and call it gold on the internets.

 I do question the tags of this 'unbiased' review however.

Tags: mmorpg, online, game, mmo, pc, world of warcraft (???), windows, wow (???), Age of Conan, virtual world, online game, aoc, mud

The other tags seem to fit this review, but why would someone put tags that has to do with WoW on a Age of Conan unbiased review?  Why is it, when you look at the main page the tags are over whelming WOW, Diablo2, World of Warcraft?  Sorry I'm not convinced this guy is unbiased regardless of how many years experience he says he has on the internets.

As far as I know, there is a hardcore RP guild (Death and Debauchery) in Cimmeria which is a PvP RP server. I heard that Wicanna (PvE) has some RP going on. But I check both servers and it's pointless. It's hard to find people that wants to RP. Why Funcom didn't create a PvE RP server is a mistery to me. My friends and myself avoid PvP servers like the plague. It just destroys the RP experience. Pretty much if you want to RP, you have to RP in a city, away from the gankers.

The reviewer is right, no RP whatsoever. Pretty much what you will find is cybersex at the Serpent Inn in Khemi.  Of course, you have the same stuff in WoW, but at least WoW had PvE RP servers and before I canceled my WoW subscription there was some quality RP you can find.

If from the beginning Funcom had a PvE RP server I am sure the RP community wouldn't be so dispersed.
