actually you have not given us enough to go on but that's ok. your processor is fine, no worries there. your memory is ok, but could be better with vista it's generally better to have more than 2 gigs of ram. now for the part you did not tell us or know about, what card are you looking at to upgrade to? This will determine if you can upgrade. from the description of your computer I would say you are in the same situation I was in when I upgrade my card. you have an older machine, most likly with a 300 watt power supply and for most mid range to top range cards you will need to up grade this to run the new card. Next, what you need to find out is do you have a pci-e x16 slot available. Or just what slots you have and are available to use. This will determine what cards you can install. Your graphics card sounds like its intergrated so no installed card to remove to install a new one. Once you find out what slots are available for the new card when you are ready to buy one, be sure to check the recommended wattage of the power supply. if it's over 300w you will need to buy and upgrade a new power supply too.
So the most immortant thing for you right now is to find out what kind of expansion slots are available to you and your power supply rating. This will determine the cards you can install. My computer is a Gateway GT5228 which is discontuned. Could not fine the spec on the main gateway site but with a little digging I found out all the specs on the support portion of the site. So, time to do a little digging. Good luck.

Thats what we need to know. You probably want a PCI-E slot so you can get one of the latest Graphic Cards that you would need. If your mother board doesnt have the required slot, then its time to upgrade your PC bud. |

What we need to know is, if you have a pci-express slot. I suggest you increase your ram a bit because 2gig with vista is a little low. You can get 2 more gig for 38$ but then you need to have 4 ram slots. Do this: Open up your computer and tell us what slots you have. http://dfncart.com/cart/images/Motherboard-Diagram.jpg There is a diagram. If you can find out your motherboard model # or your pc model # we can help more. EDIT: Ah yeah do System requirements lab like above posted. |
