After Anarchy Online fiasco Funcom's expensions made a lot of impact and lots of those "trolls" which claimed I would never buy another Funcom product did infact bought expensions and were playing AO for several years.

p.s. Not saying that will happen to age of conan.

The big patch that has been waiting for 3 months will be in the expansion and it will be released next month.

The funny thing is Funcom only gets 20% of the box revenue.  At an average of (guessing) $40 US a pop, that is $8 per box. 

Ultimately it will be a last ditch attempt to return to a profitable subscriber level.  They will be well below that by then.  Like, 150k short.

I invested (ove $1000 for a new computer + $40 for mammoth code on ebay + SE )

After investing quite a bit , when the game fails so miserable u refuse to believe that u wasted all the money.

Finally on aug 20 i put the curtains down , humbly accept my foolishness and cancelled my subscription.

Without , even fulfilling basic game as promised even mentioning expansion is unthinkable.

For me its done expansion or not, 2009 has AION and GW2 coming

Hmm... why does this announcement feel like an insult?

The game being as incomplete as it was from launch, with many people feeling sore at paying for promises undlivered, they announce an expansion customers will have to pay more for? Yikes...

Ah well, who cares. They had their moment. Now it's war's turn. Maybe once I am bored of WAR will take a look at this again.

But it all leaves a pretty bad taste in the mouth.

Even SOE didn't come out with a Vanguard expansion while working on patching away the bugs.

Actually I'm pretty happy. Funcom stock is dropping faster than subs to AOC and employee's are bailing. Warhammer is getting ready to KO them and sadly still no PVP patch (Guess they are saving that for the expansion) LMAO.

Dude pretty much all the information you could want is available and not under the NDA right now.

Essentially the elders are probably just testing stuff a patch ahead or who knows what. You know that even games like WoW have people internally that test a patch before information is released to the public, right? This is nothing new except that elder testers aren't all working internally.

Multiple groups of testers , Partial NDA removal? Check.

Mass praising without knowing the whole story ? Check

Everything else is heresay , We know what we're allowed to know , As are most testers . There's nothing different here.

All games are like this. I'll use your example of Fable 2 for one:

In Fable 1 we were promised an actual interchangeable storyline. You could plant a tree and watch it grow. You could kill an entire village and watch it become a ghost town or let it grow and prosper. What we got in Fable 1 was either be a really really evil baby eater or a really really good guy who couldn't let his sister live AND have the sword of aeons (A sword of evil and death for non fable players) just because it wouldn't be "right".  We also followed the same 8 hour storyline with 3 different twists that didn't change it at all other than, if you're either a really really good or evil guy.

I might also want to mention that when you pillaged a village and returned in a week's time everything was back to hunky dory and you're still the hero of the world. Whut. And whut.

But in Fable 2 we'll be able to plant a tree and watch it grow! Play a completely interchangeable storyline! Become anything we want (now good, bad, or in-between!) and either let that camp you see in the corner live and watch it become a city in a month or kill the two happy couples and come back in a month and find their corpses being picked apart by birds. Wait, wasn't that promised in Fable 1? See what I'm getting at?

The entire gaming industry is fucked up. I could make the same thing out of every one of those games you mentioned except for red alert 3 (because I've never even heard of that game).

Except that we can see for our own eyes the T4 content WORKING. We did not have any proof of sieges working and testers didn't even test them.

Sorry but you are comparing two totally different things here dude. The entire NDA is removed, the elder testers are just separate. Anything a person would want to know can be answered by beta testers currently. T1-T4 content.
