From what I see now, it's almost a total inverse of WoW: to be on the underdog but disciplined team, and to be a relatively lesser played class on that team, go high elf.

It seems bizarre, but I can see why that might be true. But do you think this will change once the game is released commercially?

Sword Master sounds interesting.  I just don't like the description, which talks about 'dancing'.  The elf race already seems pretty feminate and didn't really need the 'dancing' tag associated with it.  I rather like the description Paul gave Sword Master in his video... 'Jedi'. 

Shadow Warrior... sounds great, imho.  The visuals for the class (armor) just don't do much for it.  Not that I've seen from screenshots and concept art, anyway.

I'm even more upset about Dark Elf, honestly.  With BlackGuard taking the deep six, there was only 1 male Dark Elf class... until 'Sorceress' was refit to include males, too. 

I'll say it again, I hate the helms for the Elf races.  The 'conehead' appearance.  If that's how it's gonna be, that's how it's gonna be.  But they are pretty friggin ugly, imho. 

probably better to wait until live to know for sure the class balance, but maybe you're right.  could be the difference between a fluffy bunny pve focused game and a big tough guy macho rvr type game? 

would be interesting if that was true.  would like to be able to feel like the underdog for rolling a pretty white lion character.

I would have the say that playing a Elf on the side of Order is'nt my cup of tea. They are too pretty.

I play a DoK, while not far from the elven chain, but I will take a elf that listens to Ministry and Pink Floyd over a Elf that looks like he/she listens to Yanni and Mannheim Steamroller.

there are PLENTY of elfs running around.  White lion is a popular class, and I'm loving my archmage.  so far populations look decently balanced.  its not like WOW where trolls make up 5% of the horde.

Order Elfs are ANYTHING but girly in the LORE. They, yes arn't as nitty and gritty and more "refined" in terms of their architecture and clothing but read the CODEX for them, not feminine. I agree though the helmets are something to be desired but it's once again sticking with the lore and the original art... I'd be more pissed if they looked completely different from original art...

Wow. Just wow.

You do realize that "dancing" in many cultures is actually considered a very masculine thing and there are a lot of societal dances where both men and women shine?

Not to mention examples from popular culture like Antonio Banderas or Gregory Hines among others.

There is no reason for a man to feel his sexuality threatened because he has to move his body in a way that surpasses simple lumbering.

And yes the helmets leave something to be desired.

All I played in beta was Male High Elf and Dark Elf characters.  Why?  Because they had the classes that I was most interested in, but they also had the crappiest artwork, combat, animations....so I made it my personal duty to provide as much feedback, so they would hopefully get fixed.

I believe that since those were the only races I played, I have a different perception of the game than others.

My suggestion would be create an Elf character during the Preview and Open beta.  If you don't like what you see...please, let Mythic know.

Not sure what world you're in but on the server I've played the balance of players has been pretty even.

I've played the 3 order races and I've not noticed a lack of any race or class being played.

I think you're more basing this on previous polls. I seriously doubt those polls will compare in anyway to what happens on retail. As many people have said people said the same thing during WoW beta and look what happened there.
