I don't know about 10 times slower, last time I played WoW combat wasn't very quick. I'd say combat speed depends on the class, MDPS can 3-5 shot equal level mobs. |

I've been playing in the WAR CB for a week or two now. The Good: Unique zones, and the RVR. Some classes are fun. The Bad: Character Animations, and boring classes. PvE seems a bit weak also. The crafting system was also not present in the phase I played. When I say animations, I mean that sometimes animations won't finish or start at all. This includes channelling bars won't pop up and you don't know what the heck you're doing unless you concentrate on the combat log. When you get stunned you don't know you're stunned or disabled. You simply stand there and can't attack. Just last night we were taking an enemy keep and the guards spawned in a way that made them untargetable. RvR looks to be a blast though, we setup a catapult and spent 20 min destroying an unguarded door. Lol, it's one of those things that more fun with more people participating. |

I fogot to add my very least favorite thing about War......
That stupid text box when you die that says something "don't worry, everything will be ok, it is just a part of playing the game" That damn thing just drove me nuts. I thought I was playing War....not some bunny-loving-hippie-funtime-game |

I've been playing the closed beta for awhile, and I was expecting a WoW clone at best. Now, I'm a fan of the tabletop game, and after hearing EA Mythic was taking charge of the whole thing, I was a bit weary. Would they make my favorite unit a class in the game? Will they do it right? Most of all, will it be fun? Alot of my favorite units did make it into the game. Marauder, Witch Hunter, Chosen and a slew of others. I was sad to hear the Choppa was cut out, as I had my heart set on playing a Choppa at launch. Still, no big worries, it's an MMO. If they make it in later, I'll be re-rolling, if not, well I have others to choose from. I think they got the atmosphere of the game down pat. The starting area for the Orks in particular. You start out in castle seige on a dwarven castle. How cool is that? I've had alot of fun with the game so far, and it's in beta. I've had fun with all the classes in the game so far, and that's a rarity. There are still classes in WoW I can't stand playing and don't understand how people play them. There is quite a bit of stuff to do in game. I found myself wandering around doing quests while I waited for a PvP scenario only to stumble upon a public quest where I could earn points to get free gear. That, and there is the random roll for bags of loot that sometimes have epics in them. So while I'm waiting to do some PvP, I score an epic axe for my ork and then go PvPing for a bit only to come back to the PQ I was doing earlier to gear up again. It was great fun. Never really a dull moment for me. I then made a Warrior Priest of Sigmar and that was alot of fun. I mostly leveled up in RvR with him, so he was decked out in Reknown gear. As for the animations being bad, I dunno about that. Then again, I have a monster rig at home so I only suffer from server lag, not graphical lag. The animations are good. They are on par with WoW at least. They aren't crazy fantastical, but I don't need it to be. I found it to be rather fast paced, considering all that happens in PvP, so people saying it's too slow...well, this isn't a FPS. You don't just hold a button, spray then pray you hit something. I dunno, I finally pre-ordered the game. Is the game amazing? Beyond my wildest dreams? No, but I have fun playing it and I think that's all that really matter IMHO. |

Originally posted by Alundre yeah but just imagine all the people not used to so much PvP. There are a lot of MMO's especially new generation MMO gamers who hate to die and have any sort of penalty what so ever. So they have to reassure them so they don't get all frustrated and quit lol. |

I am very excited for this game.. It's an MMO and I understand the style of MMO that it is. It really seems like great fun and very community based warfare.. WoW was a great game, but I think it missed the whole POINT of warcraft.. The original warcraft was a real time strategy game where bases were built, including towers and strongholds and keeps. WoW should have had the option to be sort of like shadowbane. But they went lite on the RvR (orcs vs human) capitol cities are non-capturable, thing and thats where I think WAR shines. It stays true to the combat theme that warhammer is. Battles , Battles and more Battles.. Now that I am destined to go and switch my Pre-Order to CE, I have one more decision to make.. Which side will I go to WAR for? :-) Im seriously in the middle.. “There are dread secrets that none may know and have peace. More, secrets that render whosoever knoweth them an alien unto the tribe he belongs to, that cause him to walk alone on earth, for he who takes, pays.” -E. Hoffmann Price |

While that will probably be nice for RvR (people won't be getting 2 shotted like in wow), it also seems to make the experience feel very slow and gets downright boring in PVE.
cool, yeah the combat pace is the worst feature for me right now (only watched videos) from what your saying feels like thee glass cannon mele dps I usualy role might not be as good (killing people before they can retaliate is thier only defence) |

There are multiple kinds of instancing. I would goto warhammerwiki for a full explanation.
But basically the world zones are large and mostly "seamless", probably comparable to WoW. Then there are instanced things such as dungeons, lairs and scenarios (scenario are just better made WoW battlegrounds).
The dungeons specifically have multiple kinds of instances and one dungeon may have portion with a more narrow instance.
By this I mean that when you enter a dungeon you are always separated by faction but you may have multiple groups in the same dungeon. When you get near a boss you may go to a new instance where only your group may exist. There is also an in between type of instance for about 2-4 groups.
So basically they are trying to keep some of the feel of the communal dungeons of EQ1 or EQ2 but not have camping or other population problems.
I have not participated in the beta for this< i just took this from the wiki so a Beta player will need to confirm if this made it into the game as its described. |
