Lord of the Rings Online

HI

Currently me and my wife play EQ2, were not getting the excitement from it we intedned. We dont read quest logs as we not a clue what they are on about with the story or lore.

So were thinking LOTRO as we kind the basis and like to get imssive with the story and the world of middle earth.

As were be playing together most time whats a good combo class to be together.

Also is it true this game does not have many players? (were europe) is it a case that in lower levels we wont find anyone to group with and paly with?

are servers empty?

I hear snowbourne or something like that in the EU has alot of people.

My guess for a nice combo would be a Guardian/Minstrel. Lots of couples run with those 2. But its all up to you.

A Fun combo would be Burglar/Captain. Unlike many other MMO's outthere, Tank(Guardian) and Healer(Minstrell) are really not that needed in this game.

As far as the server i'd recommend  [EN-RP] Laurelin . You'll truly experience the feeling of beeing in Middle-Earth.

I play on one of the medium EU servers, Evernight, and it has a very healthy population.. see lots of people everywhere around all levels.... alot of people seems to start playing the game now with the Moria expansion coming soon and the AoC... dissapointment ;)

Most class-combos in LotrO are very good.. but the DPS classes hunter/champion are overplayed so i wouldnt pick any of thoose!

Guardians and Minstrels not needed? You obviously haven't gotten too far into the game then. You won't get anywhere in the later epic quests or near-ending instances without them. They are needed as much as any other MMO I've played.

Like many have said if you wish for a perfect experience one where you are not sitting around all day waiting for the main jobs you need. Guardian/Minstrel would be the best combo as you'd have it all covered then just need to pick up 4 misc. members.

Yes with Guardian/minstrel youre on the save side and will be able to do many group quests as duo.

Also you will be needed/welcome in any pickupgroup.

Laurelin is the right server for you :), very nice comunity. Wird euch gefallen.

I am not sure about the EU servers as i am an American. but i do know about classes and a Guard/Mins is a insane combo.

as far as Pve goes Ive seen that combo take down alot of crazy shit.

Trust me big guy, that combo rocks in the Delving *wink*

However!; dont get me wrong Burg/Capin is also another great one as i was lvling alonng time ago on my main (burg) my best friend was a captain. When finally got to 50 , since we had so much experience playing together, we could take down allot of stuff too. but for long term fight the captain couldnt keep me alive and/or my conjunctions were on cooldown. Now a minstrel / guard would win cause minstrels can pretty much heal for a good long time assuming they have a few Blue pots and going blue/greens on Cj's.

If you two are interested in RPing, than Laurelin is perfect choice for you. I tried several other servers but somehow I just didn't got the real feeling of the world, atleast not as good as on Laurelin.

However, if you maybe decide to roll on Laurelin, please feel free to contact me, just send /tell Diorandir :) And if you're gonna play elf, I can invite you to our kin. :) But do as you want. :)

All servers are populated enough however so you can really chose whatever you want without beeing afraid.

Guardian and Minstrel is an Easy mode that requires almost 0 skills in a process. Considering that gameplay 1-50 is already easy enough in LOTRO, they'll just end up getting bored pretty fast, and will eventually reroll.

Also Minstrel's, i simply dislike this class, its just when ever that character pulls out his Lute to do anything its makes it look soo unrealistic. Bleh..

And Guardians are very slow on damage, a Champion could do such a better job in his place. Also if it was me, i'd prefure burglar. With there high parry/evade %, stuns, ability to create Fellowship Manuevers, range of Debuffs and Crowd Control - make this a really fun class to play with.

Now that i think about, a Burglar/Lore-Master would make it even a better combination. Lore-masters/mistress is just as fun to play as it is a burglar, and have like the highest need for in  Fellowships/raids.
