How many i wounder? Are you trying to jump into the new trend of making you're own MMO. In this day and age i think i would much rather invest in Oil/Gas. /chuckles, all jokes aside. Solo MMO developers must be crazy to try and make a game. it's expensive and it takes time, 5+ years with a list of heavy backers and a massive team. in 5+ years from now who knows what will be needed to run these games. I though i would ask this because i see so many new Solo developers popping up.

Many oh so many. Most are ofcourse dreamers, which is always good, healthy and welcome, but even if they dont count to the number, still many. I think most deliberately sink their ship of dreams when they hit this : http://www.sloperama.com/advice.html But there is nothing wrong with dreaming. When stuff like realmcrafter gets enough attention and thus grow to actually be worth it, eventually those dreams come true. ![]() WHO - Online 08-10 WoW - Online since launch. Np mate, I've seen the same link used so many times like a kick to the nuts, when ever this dreamer-designer topic pops up =) Fantastic, and puts people in their right position. Then again, indie souls are strong and they'll reach the sky no matter what. ![]() WHO - Online 08-10 WoW - Online since launch. Can you be any more unclear please? =) Do you mean when the developer drowns into psychosis and loses all connection to reality? What the hell do you mean? ![]() WHO - Online 08-10 WoW - Online since launch. Its not as hard as you might think......its also not as expensive as you might think.... There is a big difference between making a mmo and making a AAA mmo title though. Independent mmos should just figure out a niche and do that 100% you dont need to be everything to everyone. Endless Ages which was a very good independent mmo which was coded, engine and all by basically one guy. They hired freelance artists, and made there own music. The problem with subscription based independent mmos, is that people expect WoW quality because they pay the same. When really because of the smaller numbers independent games need more money per user. Own, Mine, Defend, Attack, 24/7 |
