I am currently downloading the client (have been for almost two days) and my computer is trying to restart due to automatic updates. I keep pressing restart later but I am scared that If I go to sleep (which I would love to do considering I would wake up and my beta experience would be ready to commence) my computer will restart and I wont be able to continue the download! BUT since this is a torrent would I be able to pause it, restart, and then pick up right where I left off at the same speed? playing: darkfall |

You can pause it, restart your computer and resume the download from the same place you left off. There's no guarantee about speed, because you may not connect to the same computers you've been downloading from. It could be better, it could be worse, it could be the same. |

Get rid of the automatic virus update system completely.
Rightclick My Computer, click preferences, find Windows Automatic Virus Update and turn if offline. Never, ever put any computer to any network with this (and about 13 other windows automations) online. ![]() WHO - Online currently WoW - Online since launch. If you are using Utorrent or Vuze(probably many others but those are what I have experience with) you should be able to stop the download. Reboot and then continue where you left off. As long as you don't click remove torrent+data which is in another area you are golden. |

Only noobs need to get windows updates, tbh. Only noobs need a firewall, too. Having an anti-virus scanner is fine, but only noobs need auto-protect.
omgah someone are trying to port scan me!!!!!!! GOOD THING MAH FIREWALL IS BLOCKING IT!
... That's all your firewall is good for. Any of you suckers who actually bought one are just SHEEP. You were conned into believing it is a real security measure. Maybe for a business, but not for you.
Here's an idea, though:

1: put a shortcut to utorrent in startup on the start menu 2: make sure the torrent is set to run when utorrent opens (usually is by default) 3: ???? 4: Profit!
*edit* DO NOT DISABLE WINDOWS UPDATE. It doesn't matter how careful you are on the net if you catch a trojan due to a security vulnerability. These aren't always related to internet browsers (MS Blaster will infect a completely unpatched XP install minutes of connecting to the net, regardless of browser used). |
