I heard they're demoing them at the Fanfaire show.  Does that mean we'll get to see some video / screenshots of the new models this week?  I'm interested to see how Silius has brought sexy back to VG.  I've been waiting a long time to see what they've come up with.

That was what they said several weeks ago.  They would be showing them at fan faire.  Haven't heard anything since then so I'm hoping they put them on test this week.  At least I'm sure they will be showing some screen shots.  Can't wait to see what it all looks like!

Probably wont see them any earlier than GU6, if not later, after they work out the kinks.

I tend to be a realist, than an optimist, with VG when it comes to major changes... but still love the game.

I understand they won't be coming to live this week, but after all the talk about bringing sexy back, I really want to see what they've come up with. 

On a side note, when is GU6 expected?  A month or two or more?  Thanks!

SoE said that they would be showing them in Fan Faire.  They have also said that they would be going live in GU6.  GU6 however didn't have a solid date and there was a bit of fuzziness on what exactly would be in GU6.  I'd have to look back but I think the new models and customization were two of the features that were being included in gu6 but I think silius might have said that was what they wanted to do but not necessarily what they will do...  I'll have to go listen to the podcast a couple back.

I seem  to remeber that they said Trial Island, Character Customization, and GU6 where 3 distinct projects and each would be released on its own time table.  I could definatlly be wrong cuz when it comes to release dates its all double speak.

They showed video of the new models at one of the FanFaire panels yesterday.  The video showed all the races walking with their current models and then transforming into the new models.

In some ways the changes are subtle.  But there's no doubt that the new models look much better than the originals.  Especially once they have gear equipped.  The appearance is both more realistic and more heroic.

They also stated that many of the sliders that had been removed in GU5 are going to be coming back in GU6.  In fact, if you had saved your pre-GU5 template you'll be able to load it after the new models are launched and all the applicable sliders will automatically set themselves.  Then you'll be able to tweak the settings to get the most out of the new appearances.

I'm hoping to get some time on a machine running the Isle of Dawn today.  If I can, I'll report back with how the new models look in action.

One word of warning:  Vanguard does not currently have an animator on the team.  So even though the characters look different they won't have any changes to the animations.  That means we still have the sucky jumping.  Oh well.  Also, there's still no word on when tails might make an appearance for the animalistic races.

The sliders are back.  You can again spend hours tweaking your character.

generally bodies are more shapely.  Men have more chest arms and smaller waists.  women are slimer and more shapely.

finally female armor has more revealing.  more halters, short skirts, and high top boots.  Some of them look pretty damn nice but as with any change some people are gonna want to have hte unisex look back..,.

These are still beta and there are some graphical issues with armor fit and some of the sliders are off.  Also the defaults are kinda borked with all bodies bing max width initially.

So can we see them yet? Post something from Test?

Okay, so I found a low quality video 51 minutes long of Fanfaire. I only watched the two videos they showed. First is a montage of what they've implented since last year into the game at 17 mins in. The second, is the new character models directly after at 28.38 mins in. :)

I'm not overly familiar with the old, models, but the new male models are considerably more realistic and heroric. The female models seem to have more natural softer bodies and new available fantasy babe skimpy outfits. It's not a huge change, but its a nice one.

I saw the preview for Isle of Dawn trial and it seems its a demo you can keep playing and is the size of a huge area of the world.  I assume it comes with the next GU6 along with the models, so I will defintely give it a try with the new character models before I resub, considering Im playing Eq2 right now and waiting on War. If it really feels alot more improved than release I will look into the station pass. Hell, maybe then I'll actually try SWG even though I hear its ruined these days.

This thread just got started with screenshots, the half elf male's look alot more powerful and the rest Im not sure about yet. The females defintely have brought back sexy to mmorpgs though :)
