Would that be interesting where high level players could set low level players quests? |

Saga of Ryzom did it and for memory one other game has done it too. the Ryzom one doesnt give xp or rewards (to stop exploitation) but i am pretty sure the other MMO did.
its a decent idea, i played Wurm online and to get started i did some digging for some vet players, they paid me in tools (i needed them badly) and some cash, they also provided me with lunch and drinks when i needed them. i think more co-operation between high and low level players is a great idea. How about simply letting players (doesn't have to be level based) make quests/job/adventures for other players? Example - Player A is an adventurer looking to make some money, earn rep, what have you. Player B is a crafter is need of items that they are unable to get so they post a message on a board in the town they are playing in describing what they want, conditions, time needed and the rewards. Once Player B posts the message, the rewards set are automatically withdrawn from their inventory (so no cheating or swindling). Player A searches see the requests and accepts the task which is then "logged' in a quest journal or something. This could be done for all kinds of scenarios: crafting, war fighting (hiring mercs), diplomacy, etc. All it taes is a little imagination. "If we don't attack them, they will attack us first. So we'd better retaliate before they have a chance to strike" |

Yeah ^, it certainly could add to 'content' of a game, and maybe xp could still be rewarded as well- like the high level character trades some of his own xp in return.(maybe he gets it back and more for the whole completed quest-assuming the lower level char did a part of that) |

I've been saying for awhile that games that have levels need to find a way for low levels to be involved in the same community and economy as high levels. As it is, players are separated from each other too much. It's even worse when high levels can do anything low levels can do better, meaning newbie crafters can't sell anything. Something like this would be perfect to provide some cross-level interaction. |

I like this direction of thinking.
I thought it would me cool if quests you could give others were spawned from your own experiences.
So it wasn't universal, but dynamic. If a giant spider kills me, Then i can give people the chance to slay the giant spiders for a small reward. An act of hired revenge. But have the game decide the level of the reward, depending on the task.
Or maybe your a crafter, and you use X number of leather pelts within a certain amount of time. All of a sudden a quest pops up that rewards people who turn in X number of pelts to you. And the system would work like Warhammers PvP loot system. Basically you can kill and loot a player, but the loot you get is randomly generated from an item table specific for that activity or tier. So the players don't lose or gain anything, but the quests that become available for any given area is always changing or expanding. And you never know what quests you'll be able to pick up from one day to the next, and the replay ability of this system can have almost infinite possibilities. "The public is wonderfully tolerant. We already have high level players giving low level players quests. It's called guild politics. Frankly, it seems to me that any mechanic that is intended to get players to interact with new people will simply be used as a device to be used within guilds for guild members only. __________________________ "...when it comes to pimping EVE I have little restraints." Lineage 2 has one quest I can think of off the top of my head like that. Basically it's a Clan quest. A higher ranked Clan member will assist an academy clan member (low level clan member) for this quest. After completing the two or three part quest, the Lower Level member gets a Clan Oath Armor Set and the Higher Level Clan Member gets Clan Points for their clan (which can be used to buy clan skills and other various stuff). It would be great if MMO's implemented more quest like this, even though the Lineage 2 quest is simple, it works somewhat. |
