I think it will be the best class as long as it has half way decent melee weapons not just high damage range

Dwarf Engineer and Chaos Zealot for me, mabke knight when it is released

and the engineer is primarily a ranged class not a melee class

They have a couple of spanner attacks for melee but thats about it. They are mainly have Sentry, Rifle and Grenade attacks. Check on youtube, there's a recent (but about 3 builds old) video on the Engineer.

Funny this about them is that they are mid-range, so i think they'll be decently effective at close range. Might be able to shoot point blank.
