If AO had even SWG type graphics it would be considered in the top 3 of all MMO's. Tons of professions, skill system, solo instances, world pvp, raids, vehicles, selectable difficulty rating on missions, large game world, player apartments, deep crafting, social clubs and much much more. Please.... PLEASE!!!! just update the god damn graphics already!!!!!! slap some new particle effects, lighting, new avatar models along with the environment upgrades and this game would easily have 250k+ subs. The features in AO put games like SWG (current) and Tabula Rasa to shame. I personally consider AO one of the top mmo's in features and complexity. I would go as far as say it rivals the top 3 mmo's of all time UO,SWG-Pre NGE and EVE online.
Why would I play a pathetic themepark MMO when I could enjoy a masterpiece like Mass Effect, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Dragon Age? |

It's coming, we know it is, but I'd rather be patient about it. Besides, I doubt AO going to go anywhere even without a graphics/engine overhaul, and for me, the gameplay is much more important than fancy graphics. That's why I played UO for over 8 years. ------------------------- |

i agree, its an awesome game but not great graphics. if it had somewhat decent graphics it would be one of the best games. Playing:WoW,Guild Wars |

Graphics are fine with me there still flashy in there own way im afraid once they do the graphics overhaul they will try and attract kids with simplicity:(. |

The engine will mainly bring new environment and compatibility with newer graphics cards. New effects and monsters will make good use of DX9 but until Conan subscriptions rival WoW, don't expect the $$ put into AO to redo avatars. They are still some of the best designed avatars with the most complete emote set around. ~\_/~\_O

The game is old AND it will get a engine revamp end of the year / early next year I'll return after that, I love AO )

If they could just fix the damn render engine it's all they need to do. Forget AoC's lame sieges-- 200-300 player non-instanced, open-to-all tower battles is where it's at. The only problem is the Dx7 client is horribly inefficient and crashes with that many people around. |
