What is the best casual PVP game around these days? I am looking forward to war, but that is still too far off to satisfy me now.

I have been kicking around in cox for a few weeks, but am getting bored. Should I resub to eve? Is factional warfare still alive, and is it still easy to find a fight in FW?

What about wow? I thought the pvp was mindless, but at least it was easy to find a fight... I have also thought about resubing to wow..

Then there is lineage 2, I tried this game at release but it was just too hardcore for me. With the new patch coming out tuesday though I guess it could be different. I hate to throw forty bucks at it though and not like it. To my knowledge there is no free trial, and I dont know anyone that can give me a buddy key, unless someone here wants to (kingfet@gmail.com).

Finally, I guess does anyone else have any recommendations as far as what they think the best casual pvp game is?

War is set to release in a month... How is that too far off? If you are looking forward to that, then wait for it.

Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.

Two fold, A I am bored now, and B I usually do not play MMO's at launch, I usually give them around three months to get the bugs out.

I am anticipating that Warhammer is going to be great, but I am not naive enough to think that it is going to be great those first two weeks, I already made that mistake with original UO, Anarchy Online, and Shadowbane. Now I just wait two to three months :)

You have 2 options:

1. Come back to EVE and join a Corp out in 0.0 that does small gang warfare. I guess you can do FW as well but I never tried that. There is always so knuckle head in our space and most any other 0.0 alliance I've been apart of so that is option

2. Warhammer Online will hands down be great for casual PVP. Only problem is it doesnt bring much new to the table if anything at all. Instances, levels, classes, battlegrounds, and all that

But it should be highly polished I might even preorder but im not sure. But its a game you should look into if ya not burned out on that type of MMO (if you want a WoW 2.0 WAR should be it lol)

Ah you seem open to class based MMOs well then you should preorder WAR. You can pvp at Level 1 all the to level cap. No reason for a casual pvper to skip it. I'm afraid I must highly recommend that title for you

Guildwars is about as casual as it can get... create a pvp character and play in a random arena

PRoblem with WoW they force you to become a carebear to level up to cap then they string you along with those Arena gear. Do you really want to do Arenas? FPS games do Arenas so much better

Better off preordering WAR if all you want is to pvp. They at least wont force ya to grind dull PVE. You can pvp day #1 and the open beta should be available soon

Ah right Guild Wars is king for pure casual PVP. They dont force you to grind PVE at all. Just pure fun and has just enough MMO feel to be enjoyable for many months. Should last for a good long time if you do the GvG

Oh trust me I much prefer skill based mmo's, I am an old school uo player, and was the bane of anyone roaming moonglow (on Lake S, shortly after resnaissance I placed a log cabin in the first housing spot on glow just south of the city past the little cabin rooms or whatever they were heading towards the gate), and I am all for eve.

The problem with Eve is that now I am older, and I will eventually play WAR, but for now WoW seems like a much easier game to get some instant pvp action. I can simply login talk to npc and be fighting.

Why does everyone hate Arena in WOW? I loved it.

I dont know why most people do, I think it was fun for a while, the problem is, what do you really gain from doing it?

You don't need to level up to cap to PvP. Secondly, Battleground is a lot more casual than arenas and a lot more fun.

Then you must never pvp on a PVP server. What fun is it to be Level 5 getting destroyed by a Level 40? What fun is that? So you must level if you want to defend yourself or help protect friends. So grinding through PVE in WoW is --not--- optional

Next, Battlegrounds does not award fully decked out epix. Sure, you can stay in BGs but look above at my point. Since WoW is such a lootfest, you will get destroyed in pvp without the best gear. so you gotta farm Arenas I reckon (I left a bit before all that travesty of Arenas so can only go by the nonsense my friends tell me)

If world pvp was great in WoW and you got rewards for that then I would not say anything. I'd be silent. But since the world pvp in WoW is pointless I will keep saying the pvp is nothing special. Better off playing Guild wars for good, structured pvp if you are okay with instances. much less grind for much less money

Well that's that. I wish you well in World of Warcraft. It's a shame there isn't a more casual skill-based MMO out. salute

I would not suggest WoW as a PvP fixer.  In order to truly enjoy WoW and get the most out of it, you have to take part in raiding, instancing and PvP.  Otherwise it feels rather incomplete.

I suggest heading picking up a copy of Guild Wars: Factions and playing around with the different class builds in that game.  The Factions expansion is a stand alone game, so you don't need to buy the original Guild Wars.  Once you have the game you can keep going back to it off and on.
