Any details regarding the level of punishment?
Could you help describe a specific scenario or situation I might be detached from? If it could remain specific to ranting, females and shoes?
It's entirely up to her. The two young ones lack maturity and dicipline.
Excluding age and household income. Could you touch on this?

Just keep in mind. A strategy for an avatar that continues to blunder with it's base. The comment didn't bother me. In their house or domain. All free of a mandated course of action, reaction or response. Comparisons, analogies and embellishment excluded. Take care.

Funcom will never admit they are wrong about anything or fire anyone who treats customers like crap, would go against their business model. |

Guys..I gotta give the whole Lufkin thing a big "So what". The game is not doing well, the company is disgraced, the competition is releasing two hug game / xpac soon.. One small person on an official forum for a "never-was" game doesn't matter a hill of beans anymore. FC will never sanction him, they won't communicate with the player base, they plain don't care. Luffy can post about killing kittens with angry puppies and it won't matter a whit. FC tried, they (seemingly) failed. It'll be over soon. |

It's pretty bad though when a company allows a moderator to get progressively out of control on some sort of super-villain power trip. Lufkin almost certainly reads threads like this himself & judging from this latest outburst I think he actually likes the negative publicity. He obviously thinks that Funcom have given him free reign to behave however he likes or are too busy worrying about more serious issues to bother monitoring him. I wouldn't even be surprised if Funcom had told him that despite all the criticism he still had their full support because he was providing a good distraction from other issues. Regardless of why he still even has a job though, it seems likely that "You ain't seen nothing yet". If you can't "Have your cake & eat it too", then how can "The proof of the pudding be in the eating"? |

Rant = To suddenly give a long speech that usually results in rambling and repeating of nonsence. That sure sounds alot like what women do to me....
I get that some people can't see fun in comments like that, but fire him over a comment like that is silly. The more sane thing to do is to give him a warning.,,
And he needs to appoligy to women, wtf? |

So many people use the word "gay" to describe things they may think are dumb or pointless or use the word "fag" to insult a person. When in reality these people may not mean any harm to that demographic of people, the use of those words in negative sentences over and over and over eventually instill the idea in peoples minds that gay is in fact a negative thing to be.
The same goes for woman. playing: darkfall |

Had it been a racial comment, or a comment about gays your can bet they would force him to apologise. I'm sure your going to get ripped for agreeing with his comment. A warning? Maybe if it was his first idiot comment but he has acted like a jackass many, many times and yes, this does warrent termination. Like it or not we are moving to a politicaly correct society and comments like his, and yours agreeing with him are just not acceptable anymore. |

I totally agree. Excellent point, very well put. If you can't "Have your cake & eat it too", then how can "The proof of the pudding be in the eating"? |

I must say I am quite astounded by the ability of this community to whip itself into a righteous rage. Keep in mind that Funcom is a huge company, staffed by *gasp* people! People make mistakes, and it's not always easy to weed out all the bad. I am not saying anything about funcom, their buisness practises, or AoC itself. All I am saying is that a lot of the participants of this community might benefit from taking a step back, a deep breath and then, think about what you are actually getting so worked up about. Never underestimate the crowds ability to amplify each other's emotions to such an extent that in the end all they can do is cry out for prosectution and crusades. |

Simple problem with a simple solution. Lufkin apologizes, gets a warning mark, a few more strikes and he's gone. No need to fire anyone on their first major mistake. No need for over-zealous readers to want to see someone crucified. Formal apology and move on. But the absolute WORST thing the company could do would be to just delete the thread and ignore it and hope it all goes away. That's going to do nothing but stoke the flames of discontent. That's the action in this thread that amazes me. Unbelievably dumb imo. |

Well I havent seen any threads being closed by Lufkin lately , or any posts at all really... |

Originally posted by airhead Actually that is exactly how it is with most jobs, especially where you are a representative of the company. Especially if you say what he did. People don't get second chances, or third, or so on like he already has. An apology followed by sacking is the norm. By the way, I and some of the other posters here have noted that this probably wasn't even a 'mistake'. Mistake would imply that he didn't mean to say that. ___________________ http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2006/12/13/ |

Im sensing lots of self-righteous hypocrisy here. I can see that Lufkin was hated, but lets not pretend that a REALLY small comment like "rants are for women!" is some huge deal to all of you. Its simply not possible for people to be that hypersensitive normally. If you ARE *that* PC, then you've got some serious issues. That comment was a typical macho jab that is very common in any circle that is mainly male. I think any guy and all women realize that and arent deeply hurt when they read it (unless they need counseling) The vast majority of women think that videogames are a pointless bit of stupidity as it is and fully expect guys to generally be juvenille, so lets not pretend this guy is some raging, dangerous, misogynist based on such a silly LITTLE comment. The ENDLESS use of "gay" as a pejorative is FAR worse and I dont see anyone getting whipped into that kind of frenzy EVER. Of course Im sure if this guy Lufkin did that, there would then be a frenzy. At least just admit that you hate LUFKIN and its not so much what was said but that HE said it. Or are all of you going to pretend you've NEVER laughed at sophomoric humor in movies, on TV, from comedians, from friends, etc etc. You really all sit there ENRAGED at Chris Rock, or Harold and Kumar or pretty much ANY OTHER pop culture comedy, eh? Yah... OK. The guy may very well be a jackoff, but its pretty obvious he was going for schtick in that post. He clearly has embraced the "kick you in the nuts" type internet persona that SO MANY seem to favor. The ONLY thing Ill give you is that its probably not appropriate for an official rep to be, well, human, but I consider that unfortunate really. EVERY corporate communication is sanitized and analyzed by lawyers and HR departments on the LOOKOUT for BS lawsuits (not out of any *real* sensitivity since there is no *real* harm 99% of the time). I dont really think society is somehow BETTER for this totalitarian political correctness regime we now live under. |

The purpose of the post is to further degrade people while attempting to downplay and spin the truth. Its really kind of ... sickening. ___________________ http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2006/12/13/ |
