I braved my Yahoo spam folder and did see my invite dated yesterday.  So I've been receiving all of the Warhammer newsletters and they've been making it to my inbox without an issue, but for some reason the beta invite is treated as spam by Yahoo.  It's certainly worth just checking the betacenter page if you haven't seen an email.

to bad for all you guys when i downloaded the beta it only took me 2secs I had 1000mb per sec download  =)

I followed the patch idea and it finished downloading! I open the game and then it just sits at loading and then I get an error message saying Authenitcation Failed and it closes. I don't even get a chance to put in my account name or anything. What do I do for help since I can't access beta forums?

Sounds more like open beta to me when they randomly invite people though. ;)

Is the Beta even up? I launch the game and I just get a black screen?

This will allow you to mostly bypass the torrent and instead patch from the patcher:

 

1) Download Best Download Manager - FlashGet Flashget.

2) Download or open your beta torrent with it

3) It'll prompt you to download individual files from the torrent, download all the warpatch or "patch" related files- you can't miss them. They're fairly small.

If you read the email carefully, you'll see it doesn't matter if you get it downloaded today or not.  You can't play it yet.

As for breaking the NDA by talking about this stuff on this forum, I highly doubt they are willing or able to track down anyone who mentioned download speeds on this forum and then figure out what their beta account is.

You can't play today if you have the client or not. And I would be willing to bet you won't be playing until all CE invites are out to be fair to all CE orders. It would REALLY irk people to have a CE preorder and not have an invite yet while other CE preorders are already playing.

50 kb isn't bad at all! Take you what? 2-3 days? Do some configuring and you can increase that speed. People who get low torrent speeds are subject to 3 issues. 1. ISP traffic shaping 2. Setting up the torrent program wrong 3. Port forwarding. Any of these are easily researched on google/youtube. Did you increase your connections? turn on encryption? Port forward? reduce upload speed to 50%-75% of max to not kill download speeds? If your ISP shapes your traffic you have to wait for off peak hours.

CE closed beta isn't up yet so you have plenty of time and they gave you all the pertinent info. Download the client but servers aren't up yet.

Why would Mythic use torrents? Well lots of data for a client, lots of people that need that data, and lots of bendwidth needed. Using the patcher(if its DDL) thing draws more bandwidth from Mythic and may cause issues for them. I wouldn't reccomend that until they say its okay.

Besides... NDA is dropping next week prolly... so that and the fact that they don't let people into the beta forums means they are gonna take it easy on the NDA... yes, they will prolly kick you out of beta if you say something about the game mechanics... but helping others with the download... they prolly wont care since it's less work for them...

And to the guy who said he "fears" about other betas the people talking about the downloads get in... well if this was 2 months ago i wouldnt prolly even have mentioned i'm in beta... so you prolly just need to relax since every rule has it's exceptions :o)

With all due respect, some of us have to do considerable amounts of work that involve our cable/dsl being clear. A torrent D/l causing a call to a client to drop because its using resources isn't acceptable. Any interference, really. So 2-3 solid days is absolutely out of the question.

People were recommending torrent d/l applications, and talking about their speed, which is great because I am not at all familiar with torrents as I never use them. Talking about torrent apps and D/L speeds is not in and of itself a violation of WARs NDA. The only thing you got a point on, all though it is reaching further than Sauron in the Misty Mountains, is that they shouldn't have mentioned "war" files. I guess they could have just said "file".

Don't worry about being banned about talking about the torrent. That is not against the NDA. I've read the whole thing all 3,000+ words of it. You just need to not mention about their servers or content.

The torrent way of getting stuff like this is not going away. Blizzard has used it for a long time to handle the load from WoW.  When you got 60k people downloading 9GB, thats a whole heap of bandwidth.

And where else are you going to get help?  They stated very clearly that new beta testers would not get access to the beta forums and that if they did the forums could not handle the load, and they are not going to bother upgrading them. So you are left to public forums to find help.

I checked about 5 minutes ago. The game servers are not up. You can login, get to the server select  screen and it will say beta is closed. Please try Later.

Probably looking at Wed. or later. They stated that they hoped to have the new closed beta servers up the same time the oceanic beta servers were ready middle of the week.

So you got plenty of time to download.

just set if over night while you sleep...wake up turn it off....use your bandwidth however you want,  turn on torretn, go to bed. by the time you are done you could be playing when the servers come up eventually

Lucky enough I got into beta as well. Been trying to download it over torrent for about 48 hours now, with only 15% completed. But sure as heck more completed seeders need to stick it out and help the rest of us out. I'm using uTorrent and it's currently listed seeders to peers at 1359/9637.

Also, the patch trick seemlessly took a dump. I now get a Patch error!: "Your Warhammer folder is missing a large number of files. Please check the Beta Center for updated installation media." This first occured while the patcher was working/downloading. Now it comes up everytime I try to start it, even after moving the original patch files to a new folder. Anyone else getting this?

You have to copy all the files that have "patch" in their filename to another folder, then run "Warpatch.exe". Make sure to check "Perform full file check"

Make sure they've been fully downloaded, however.

Getting really sick of a .4 KB/S download speed for just the initial patcher stuff and the whole thing earlier.

This is the first use of a torrent and honestly I can't see why it wouldn't be prudent for a second choice of doing something less stressful and whole-week-longish. This can be solved, I'm sure, but I've no idea how. None of the instructions I've found I can carry through.

At this point I don't give a damn about the NDA, I need this thing installed. Won't be home the next week and I'd like to make sure things are done before I go. And frankly this thing pisses me off.

I have been seeding since about two days ago. I have had about 30 gigs uploaded so I have given about 3 people the Beta.

Also I dont know what some of you guys are saying, I had at least 300 seeds at any given time and up to 1500 at others, but I usually only had about 30KB/s.

i have uploaded 208 gigs in 3 days now...my isp is going to call the fbi on me!

That "patch" method no longer works, unfortunately. I wish I would have done it last night when it did work.

my patcher is still working

I hope this doesn't break the NDA, but I was just wondering when the servers are coming online to begin with. I haven't been able to play for the past 2 days even tough I have had it downloaded and installed.
