hard to believe so many people are getting bad performance, when this vid shows somebody using fraps(resource hog) and watching 30+ people fighting a dragon. EDIT: or is it 24 people? Looks like more, but i counted 24 health bars. |

Yakmars cave is massive. Here is another video showing some other raids, cheesy music, but you see vistrix fly in :)

I'm not saying anything about the games looks, defensive aren't we? I was just saying that to think it's awesome that you don't lag like a motherfuck in a cave is a bit, well, pitiful sounding. |

Now now MR Avery. Lets at least explain few things about that video ? This movie has been speeded up quite abit. That is for all to see. Secondly - Why you think this movie of a wipe has been put up there ? Yes - exactly. Cause it is a clip with no major lag or gliching going on. But that does NOT mean that other atempts have no lag or glitching. Third - Since this movie was obviously posted to try to fool ppl into thinking there is no lag and no glitching in AOC - many features have been turned off - including sound. Just watch this one and notice the lag. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4EiAG6PPb4&NR=1 Now - like always AA is not here to post facts. He is here for the PR job like hes getting paid for it by FC. So plz dont take anything he says seriously. |

I agree. The video has CLEARLY been sped up. That isn't really surprising. You would almost have to turn down the settings. I have a solid gaming rig and have to run at about 30% to get the best performance I can from AoC... There is NO WAY those people are playing lag free on high settings, none. I experienced little lag in AoC but that is because my settings were so low. On max settings I struggled to do much. Tecmo Bowl. |

My comp ran AoC on almost all high settings with no problem. Unfortunately graphics doesn't make a good game. I would rather you post about how cool the mechanics of the fight are and how much strategy it's takes to down Vistrix Avery. |

My computer also ran at the default HIGH setting without issue. Just an nVidia 8800GTS 512 and AMD X2 4800+. Matter of fact since leaving AoC I've played WAR, EQ2, CoH and none of those one look as good as AoC and more importantly don't perform as well. The AoC graphics engine is just a sweet sweet peice of code. Are there bugs? Yes. Are they show stoppers for me? No. |

It seemed pretty well optimized and I had s sub par system at the time. fx-57(single core), 2g ram, geforce8800 320, xp pro. I could run it on high in the open areas. I uninstalled the game after 1 week, but it wasn't because of performance reasons. It was because of... just read 1/2 the threads in this forum. |

Quite bad animation on that dragon, hate when huge mobs spin/glide around a small point. Otherwise it looked cool, thx for showing it cause i will never experince it myself. |

Of course the last video was sped up on purpose. The two in the orignal post are not and just find. The video you linked says it has been removed sorry. I also did say there were plenty of others there to look at. And no it was not posted to fool people, like I said here is a vid showing this and other raid bosses. So plz get facts right thanks :)

Both those videos are between a month and two months old. (June 28, June 10) Why are you posting them now? |

It doesn't matter how old they are, they are showing people a raid boss, therefore age doesn't really matter does it. They were also a lot clearer in visual quality than others. But if it makes you happy here is one from the other day: And here is another added 2 weeks back which looks better in higher quality.

2 nights ago (before I decided to leave the game until pvp is fixed) Was with a group in Aztel's fortress, finished almost all of the bosses, but the caster guy up the tower kicked our butts. We had four or five 5k lag spikes during that trawl. |

Since when does network performance and the graphic engine have anything to do with each other? I got lag spikes every couple of days but you do get a UI to tell you about it. Again I never died from it so never cared. Seems more router dependant than game though, going to another firmware changed my lag spikes in game from several times an hour to once every few days. But then I get lag spikes in EQ2 and CoH too so its reasonable to expect some lag from time to time in an online game. |

AoC was graphically impressive, being among the most advanced on the market right now. That being said, it did have some glaring bugs, the most annoying being the ones in the villas associated with Shader 3.0 that dragged performance from 80+ to 20-30 fps. Changing the shader to 2.x solved the problem, but it is a stopgap measure at best. That being said, lag spikes do not equate to graphics. They are two totally seperate things, as has been stated by others. Other than the shader issue, I experienced no graphical lag or irregularities in the time that I played. I have a 8800 GTS 512 MB(G92 core). |
