Much easier to fix than 1) rebuilding the terrain for the whole game and 2) it sure as heck beats pissing off your player base trying to keep people from doing something they might actually think is a feature. Honestly I was surprised the first time I jumped up on a hill over looking a mob with my bow and couldn't inflict any damage on them. To me it seemed like the right thing to do. The game has climbable areas, ranged weapon classes and high ground then why can't I inflict damage on them? I can get up here. If so then they should be able to get up here as well. If the AI can't handle the pathing to where I am then give them ranged weapons and the ability to use them. Seems like an easy fix to me.

If only developers took more time to fix the exploits rather than wasting resources going after those who've given into temptation using them because the dev team can't get their act together. They chose to release the game in the state it was in.
Humans are like water. They'll naturally seek out the course of least resistance. Some can resist such temptations but a lot will not . Don't blame them for using a short cut you left there due to your sloppy work Funcom. Fix the bloody thing! I all for banning those who exploit via 3rd party software, or find a serious exploit flaw that can wreck the economy, but banning for small exploits left all over the game due to a dev team unable to polish the game before release reflects badely on them and the company.
They're the type of holes in the game mechanics that are the basics bugs the should have be ironed out in closed Betas phases, some even in Alpha. Funcom and the bunch of clowns that make up the company had their chance. It's hard to shake off a bad rep from word of mouth. They've done all the misleading hype they can get do.
Now you'll start hearing the same old tune of “we're listening to the players, really we are because are subs numbers are nose diving” Get to the back of the room AOC and stand next to the other failure of 2008 Tabula Rasa. |

I think FC's problem is that they expect us all to have common snese and be ble to see that if we are doing something in game with no consequences then it is probably not ment to be like that, or is an exploit. But reality is gamers dont often exercise common snese and need to be told everything. So FC need to actually explain what a exploit is and put it in black and white! |

The problem with claiming that attacking from higher terrain is a bannable offense is that it utterly destroys any element of realism because in the real world taking advantage of terrain is one of the most fundamental aspects of warfare. Your example mentions roof/fountain/wall but what about rocky terrain? If only some higher rocky terrain is considered an exploit, whilst other areas are considered mere bumps in the ground, then how are players supposed to tell the difference? It is nowhere near as clear cut as you make out & to stick with your driving analogy it seems more like a speed trap on a poorly signposted road that catches many drivers unaware they have broken the law. Funcom must have been able to anticipate this as it is so ridiculously obvious, but to compensate for a basic design flaw by threatening people with being banned just seems wrong. In my opinion of course. If you can't "Have your cake & eat it too", then how can "The proof of the pudding be in the eating"? |

Thing is friend your playing a game not going to war. ye a game that was totaly real would be different but this is Conan, it's game set in a fantasy world. and in the real world if i sat on a wall firing arrows at someone i dont really think they would just stand there till they died. |

This is just even beyond silly and sad at the moment. There are many places in AoC where you can go legitimately, either by just walking or by your climbing skills. And now people are getting banned by using legitimate way to get on higher terrain (As hyped and advertised galore by Gaute), because their whole AI engine is utterly FLAWED! When I played back in may and june I could ran up against a hill till a dead point and range kill animals, without them following me and thus attacking me, because the AI was TOO stupid to even allow them to walk towards me on that hill (wich wasn't even steep). Meaning that if I would have done that today I would now been banned too Funcom really has no clue and is now really trying to destroy their own game on an even worse rate! Instead of trying to adress issues and FIX them, they just nerf other features to compensate or nerf them in general or as lately... EVEN WORSE trying to wave them off as exploits and start banning innocent people for it! Way to go Funcom! Hope all other dev companies are watching this and learn from it! Cheers |

You can't play music on it but you can microwave a pizza in the magnetic field around it, because its built so badly. So you use your stereo to heat your food at night. Then Panasonic go in and cut the power to your house, because your stereo was supposed to play music, not heat food. |

DB your right when i read them back i can see what you mean. i think i'm just one of those who find it hard to put down what i mean in writing. All i was trying to say was that while i can see FC has made so many mistakes and are responsible for so much...i think 90% of the exploit arguments are pointless. I mean nearly all of them are exploits and obvious ones. It's up to us as gamers to take some responsibility of our own too. Maybe i am too old or long in the tooth i dont know, but, if i see something not working right i say so..i dont just take advantage of it. As for the real life thing. i just mean "calm down people, it's only a game and dont expect too much!" |
