Age of Conan

Some of the replies speak or sound as if I do not play MMO's which I do.  I have invested many hours/days and years into characters.  I am simply seeking a perspective on why some gamers spend lots of time following company "goings on".  Some of the responses have shed some light on this.

I don't get it... how come they only get 20% off retail sales? Shouldn't the number be a lot higher than this?

I mean... retail stores only get like 5-10% profit, making the box is probably around $5. Where does all the rest go?

I'm quiet angry myself.  Just looking at the patch notes that were supposed to be for today, but pushed till next week are very disappointing.  Makes me think, "have they just quit?".  But that's is another topic for another thread.

I could understand this if you were a major stock hold, (you as in gamers), but as a simple gamer why is it so important?

Since you're a paying customer, you have an investment in the company.

exactly, I'm gonna make a thread soon stating, Funcom patches? Making the game worse? Then what will it be like in 6 months or a year? A piece of ????

I think your questions is the basis of why people are interested in a companies financials.   It will be very obvious soon that the dev team is not intact any more.  Remember, the bean-counters know exactly how many people quit the game, and they are also aware that a huge wave of cancellations are coming mid-september when Warhammer launches. ( you think if warhammer has a decent beta that pvpers are really going to stick around Aoc?).

In any event.  There will be few developers and QA working on AOC.. which is why patches will keep getting bumped back and why when they do launch, they will be more buggy than the live game.

with all of this information, this game is lost
