I think from a term of choice and space, it does. WoW, perhaps, offered less at launch than WAR will. Plus it offers a pvp based end game engrained. Seems better in text doesn't it? The main point being, they warned you, all of you, what they chose to do. Please don't bash a game for being straight forward. I won't, even though I have no intention to play the first 6 months. They are already better than funcom without a launch... |

WoW is an old game though and it was entering a MMORPG market with different expecations at the time. I do not think it is a good idea to try to compare and contrast WoW's earlier years with the launches of upcoming MMORPG's. As for not playing the first six months we share the same philosophy in waiting for the dust settle before moving in to try a MMORPG. But for those hoping that the rest of the cities would be in six months post launch may need to watch the recent podcast.

Agreed. Bait and switch means they got your ass in the store, and either "sold out" of what you were looking for, or tried to upsell you to a point of denying you the advertised product. This happens the SAME DAY. I they warn you two months in advance, it's not B&S, especially on the internet where you know it 5 minutes after they announce it. Example: The SWG CU was not bait and switch, they told us it was coming 5-6 months ahead. The SWG NGE happened 2 weeks (without warning) and was announced the day after a $25 expansion went live. THAT was bait and switch. So, The OP and his supporter should simply grow up, and stfu. |

Actually, I think the WoW launch is a great point of comparison. Even at 4 years old, few games have captured in a year what wow captured at launch, their main problem being the log in servers. The rest of the game ran fine, this was continued by Lord, and a few others. There are also many, if not all MMO's that release with less content than wow did at launch, look as DnD or AoC. WoW set a decent standard, I don't even like the game, but it raised expectations. If WAR can release with more territory, classes, and at least as much content as WoW did at launch, it is a noteworthy acheivement. At least one with more to boast than AoC. Funcom couldn't even fess up to having 2/3 of core systems unfinished. |

WOW glad to see so much discussion flying about this. I think my point is simply the way the changes were put to me is they were holding off on the new content till it was ready the POD cast says the focus of the game was changed. the two are not the same. oh as far as the mid love patch comment your not old school DAOC if you dont remembe the promise of love patches for all three realms alb got a super love patch hib got an ok love patch, they never got around to doing Mids and a year later denied they every were going to then said they didn't need it any way. :P by then the last players on a lot of mid servers had already turned out the lights on the way out. for the people makeing various STFU comments, hey move out of your parents basements and get a life it's a game not life or death i'm interested but I've been burned by mythic before. the game looks good and mythic has grown alot from the old days but I'd really like to hear discussion on it . I think the old way was better but it's not a deal breaker for me. I DON"T like this change in message from "hey we couldn't get it all done " to "we think this works better" that reminds me of the old mythic where thanes were told they were designed to be on the bottom of the pvp heap cause someone had to and they were working as intended. by the same logic the titanic didn't sink it failed in it's mission when the captain decided to covert it to a submarine mid voyage. |

Who cares? They took them out because they weren't fun and fulfilling. I'll trust them on their word, they've made some of the most MMO fun I've ever had. Finwe on microphones in MMOs: "it'd eliminate l33t speak....But it would bring in ebonics." |

This game is a total disservice to everything Warhammer..
The gameplay is also boring as hell.. I couldn't play it for more than 15minutes without being bored out of my mind. |

I like the changes, as it focuses the RvR campaign to one final point instead of 3. I would still like to see the racial cities put in after launch to add flavor content (ie. some new quests with a specific racial flair) and give those players an additional place to go for basic services (albeit it makes sense that these services would be less than available in the Capital). For the sake of the RvR campaign remaining focussed and well-populated, I am glad they did this. |

I think its a good thing. It's not any fun to play an empty MMO. Centralizing things makes it easier to group and what not. Here's a link to the podcast I think you mean. http://mythicmktg.fileburst.com/war/us/home/flash/2008-07_podcast.html Interested to see how they handle travel to the fortresses from the main city though. BTW
They are the guys spending the time and money to create the game. I imagine they didn't make the decision on a whim, so going to trust that it will make the game more fun. If its more fun this way its better for them anyway, right? |

why does it have to be instanced 48 vs 48? I was a little discouraged, cause I honestly wanted MASS PvP RvR, ya know? only 48 right? that sux, but oh well, I don't care, Warhammer is great |

That is only part of the city siege that is instanced and I don't think the number of players is set in stone. You still have unlimited players for part of the siege and for fortress assaults etc. |
