If a lawsuit like this could help us not get screwed over by companies like what Funcom has done I'm all for it.

This should not be allowed to happen again.

You gonna play, or what Pusscakes!?

Well put googajoob7, I actually erased my same comments regarding Vanguard, as I felt droplets coming back towards me while taking a leak......

This is what I find strange, it is quite obvious that more hub bub has been raised about AOC's short commings then any other, quite frankly, failed launch recently.

I don't know what it would take to fix the stead fast trends for the genre, but I feel this isn't the way.  It is alrdy difficult enough for alot of foreign developers to get a pub in the states, you think if some players actually managed to win some measly monetary value (which isn't gonna happen) from FunCom, that these publishers would be willing to try........./shrug

Well, suck it up has been adequate thus far, why should AOC be any different?!

Currently playing (if wondering):  EVE, VG, AOC, and a bunch of other cool arse games

Well if that goes thru quite few will become very rich suing Blizzard.

Agreed. People have been putting up with crummy undercooked releases a lot the last several years. One would think that at some point (hopefully soon) market type forces would correct things. I don't mean financial markets literally. I mean as the general mass of players as a whole begin to either leave the genre in disgust, or stop buying games at release (because of being burned so many times), the makers of MMOs would gradually shift. They would begin to allow their devs to build a good game, finish it till they are satisfied and confident. Allow press to play the endgame, etc.

Sadly, they cycle is just continuing.

  • Hype
  • release
  • disappoint
  • promise
  • fail
  • censor
  • blame players for said fail
  • leave the keys with SoE on the way out.

It is a friggin video game, the way everyone is carrying on about this, is like having a recall to some infant product that actually was detrimental to said infant.

Do you understand that you are on a video game site? Thats what the whole point of mmorpg.com is, video games. So we talk about things that we like, don't like, games that suck, games that don't, etc.

I am gonna pull out the apples and oranges thing on the infant seat and video games thing.

I wasn't talking about MMOs I was talking about small purchases which were tainted with fraud.  These are often handled in small claims court and telling people to suck it up when they feel defrauded is simply not adequate.  Its doesn't matter whether the purchase is small or large there needs to be a recourse.

This does apply to MMOs but if you think they are somehow special and that a business can just will nilly make false claims well then enjoy the results.

The post I respoonded to claims this sort of stuff does not rise to the occasion.  That no one has been wronged to enough of a degree to justify any action at all.

That does not fit in with the way things operate when you look at the broad market.

That would be great if they take this to court. Excellent. Its really disgusting how Funcom advertised certain things that werent in the game. Very shady business practices.

Especially with the "Enhanced for DX10." Enhanced basically means that its improved for DX10. Meaning that the game is already ready to run on DX10 and if anything runs better on DX10. Very shady advertising and possibly fraud.

SCIENCE PROVES CAPS LOCK CAN CURE CANCER.

He does not have a case there. FC has been extremely intelligent on their advertisements, which sickens me to an extreme extent. I'll use what the person above me said as an example. The "Enhanced for DX10" can mean alot of things. It could mean it is built for the use of DX10, but it does not have to mean that the game actually runs on it. Just that it has the possibility to. So from that, nothing was broken.

I really would hope for the demise of this company just so it can show other companies that you really can't do this. It would be fantastic, but in this case, he has nothing against them.
