by now they for sure had to "restart" development of game once, what was arround 2003/2004 when two companies merged (if i remember right)

So actualy you can say that game is in true development from 2004, so thats 4 years what is again resonable time.

In that time they released alot of screenshots and few video clips, as we saw in AOC, WAR etc...

Announced beta was canceled few times due high costs (?!?). Someone said that releasing beta can cost allmost like releasing full game, thats why its done 2 weeks before world release.

ATM there is some "internal testing" done by "proffesionals". What exaclty internal testing means, and who are proffesionals i dont know.

Yep, except for the part about a few months. They haven't set a release date before until now, although they have threatened to release 2-3 times over the course of development but (for not entirely known/disclosed reasons - game wasn't good enough for them?) have chosen otherwise.

Personally, i think the main reason is that the DF devs all have bad OCD.

sorry to burst your bubble but those pathetic excuses for Videos they have released are nothing like what AoC and Warhammer have released.

And even the game was in develpment for only 4 years they still should have about 100 xxxx more videos and material to show besides 2 or 3 crappy looking alpha videos that are nothing more than a fly by of buildings and some generic combat system.

its true that they didnt offer much material except screenshots what isnt good enough proof.

Tabula Rasa was in same situation no? they had to redo whole game 2-3 times (if i remember it right)...and look at it now...its on top 5 released games on this forum...what makes it better than AOC and World of Warcraft...good going for Tabula Rasa.

That Tabula Rasa case gives me hope in Darkfall....

Funny that both AoC and Warhammer are both officially pieces of shit. Maybe they should have followed Darkfall's model and spent all that money and time actually making good GAMEPLAY instead of polished game videos. Warhammer may yet turn out OK (though they are dropping content like whoa) but AoC is 100% for sure a piece of overhyped, buggy & laggy crap.

funny thing is that WAR will be best PVP game out there...and AOC will loose playerbase even more because AOC doenst have anything to offer.

Actually, development started before they announced the game.  They had offices in Oslo and were working on the 3D engine in mid 2000.  The planning stage goes back even farther - 1997 is when Claus said he got "serious" about planning.

There is no evidence that they ever did a complete "restart" of the game.  If you go to the Darkfall site, look at the news section during those years.  You will see nothing from the devs about a restart, but you will find them saying they are just about ready to begin beta!  So, no restart, though they have obviously enhanced the game over the years as would be expected.

Further, Razorwax and Aventurine never merged.  Razorwax went bankrupt in 2006.  What is confusing about it, is that the guys running Razorwax and the guys running Aventurine are pretty much the same people.

Holy smokes, this is just insane.  If they cant afford to test their game, I would say they cant afford to make a game.  Beta testing is not a luxury.

Internal means they are testing with Aventurine "employees".  Typically, this stage would be called alpha, or pre-beta.  Some are no doubt professional.  But the majority are unpaid interns - local college students.  Since they are doing their testing in their own offices on their own LAN, they are also limited in number.  I have no doubt that this is insufficient.

their screenshots look awesome.  I love the city seiging ones.

I can't wait for Darkfall to come out, I have high hopes for it. Also I know the kind of direction they are going with it because the developers played asherons call; darktide. I can't wait for this game, it's going to be the best pvp game for a LONG time. See you all on the battle field when it is released.

I think there are strong elements of that. IMO they also come across as quite obsessive about getting it all "just right". Put it all together, the game was always going to take a long time.
