"The Customer is Alway Right" is not about the customer being right, it is about not pissing off the customer when they are wrong. The point is to be polite to customers when they complain, because you have a much better chance of making them happy than telling them they are wrong. When a custmomer complains about something, an employee is supposed to empathize with the customer, but expalain why they can't do what the customer wants, or pretend to talk to a supervisor before explaining why they can't do waht the customer wants. The point is to make the customer feel like their complaint is being considered, even if it isn't. Basically, it is about not pissing off customers, and trying to calm the ones who are pissed off, so that they might continue to be customers. None of which has anything to do with SWG's development history, since the major changes to the game were never intended to make the current customers happy. Those changes were intended to replace the current customer with a mythical group of customers that were significantly larger in number, but which never appeared.

Yes you are right to a point. You don't piss off your customers. But really it is about giving what a paying customer what they want. It's just one of the things a customer wants is not to be pissed off. If you were a travel agent and did well and have a paying customer come in and say "I want you to fix my car's brakes and I will pay $50" you would most likely them to take that business to a Brake shop. You would not do it because maybe you make more than that as a travel agent and don't like getting dirty. You would run the risk of pissing off that potential customer. Same guy comes in and offers $1mil and I guarantee you would have that car jaked up and brakes torn apart fast. The above example ts hypothetical and not likely to happen I know. But consider this. Would you ever pay $2000 for a dish rag? Would you think anyone would? Sounds equally implausible right? Paris Hilton has that little rat chiuahua Tinkerbell. That dumb chick is willing to pay that much for a sweater it. The amount of material used and the cost to make it is no more than a dish wrag. She just percieves it as something special. If you have a paying customer willing to believe, you let them believe and charge accordingly. This happens because of a paying customer is right. And if they are willing to pay give them what they want. No real disagreement here. Just a point for good discussion. i look at it from this point $OE la and now bioware owe us we are the ones who put blood sweat and tears into swg pre-cu. not the lazy fanboi and fanbots not the devs who didn't know what we wanted even when we told them. they owe us for our time they owe us for our money and it is time for all of them to make good to us. we are the ones who swg and the kotor game should be geared for mmo players not the console players who want mtv on there xbox. not the sw fanbois who think something cool like jedi shouldn't be in the game cuz it wasn't in the movies no we are the ones they should be making games for. the nge is everything wrong with gaming it is a con job that has done nothing for the game. and if you are not out there demanding that our game be rolled back to our pre-cu system then you are a good for nothing fanboi and need to go. we the players made swg not $OE it's time we get our game back. |

$OE failed Marketing 101. You really only get one bite at the apple. It costs 2-10 times more to obtain a new customer than to keep an existing one. Now that they have failed in terms of increasing the subs with the CU and NGE they now head back to school to review their text books: "The best source of future business is a past customer. " They do not actively market this title to new customers. The main reasons are costs and bad reputation due to their own poor decisions. That leaves marketing only to former customers via vet trials. The problem now is that product is no longer what the former customer paid for and enjoyed. If they created 1 pre-cu server it would blow away the population numbers they currently have on the 1st day from any single server and probably many of them combined. Simply put the product they have now the majority of potential players do not want to play. Doesn't take a marketing degree to see that. -------- "SOE has probably united more gamers in hatred than Blizzard has subs"...daelnor |

I still play SWG and love it! Why? Because it's not only a Star Wars MMO, but in my honest opinion, it's still a beautiful game too. |

Originally posted by Soara if you still play SWG and love it so much; what the hell are you doing here? by the way , if you dont see much of a difference in the big picture about a class system, then you are just demonstrating everybody ,you have no idea at all of what you are saying. 98 % of people who played precu or cu consider game in its actual state as rubbish compared to even CU. you enjoy game? ok lucky you. But I have the right to say and that does not mean crying that NGE for me is a real big big S_H_it. I tested trial and it stinks since minute 1. yes it is a good game for someone new ,for those that would play anything just cause it is SW, and for those losers that hated jedi and respected to jedi the first day of NGE. What happens ,is that all fanbois think vets are the cause of SWG not getting new players; and that is false. Iv not cried for 3 years I just said the truth for 3 years. and yes at least for me NGE IS PURE EVIL ¡¡¡¡ |

At least we can all agree on a few things: We each know more about the history of SWG than anyone else. - post count is the best way to display your amount of knowledge - forum join date is the 2nd best way - telling people you started playing in Alpha or Beta = +1 to the 'touch me, I'm awesome' buff - saying you like the NGE will get you strung up and hung until your SWG account is dead (or no longer active) - saying you hate the NGE will earn you a 'beating a dead horse' response - saying you want a roll-back will earn you a 'get over it already' reply We will argue over the smallest details of timeline presented in a forum post, avoiding both A) the subject matter/topic of the original post and B) the overall reason for the thread and discussion in the first place. Example: OMG! Are you serious!? That did NOT happen 1 week after the other patch. It was 6 days/15 hrs you friggin N00B!!!!!! I played since before launch, I KNOW!!! We will not make a difference in SWG at this point.
