The reason why it bothers me when people screw up basic grammar is because it gives me the impression that they just don't care: that they have so little respect for those they are talking to that they couldn't bother to type things normally. Either that, or I think they're just wallowing in stupidity -- a sort of anti-intellectualism. I'm not talking about people who are not native English speakers or who really just aren't very bright. I'm talking about those who know better but choose to use poor grammar.

MMO wish list: -Changeable worlds -Solid non level based game -Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

The english language is forever morphing. The people dont confirm to fit the language, the language conforms to fit the people. Words like "ain't" and "ya'll" have made their way into the dictionary, so whats so bad about people using shorter terms? I mean for crying out loud Snoop makes up words you can now find in the dictionary m'nizzle, f'sho.

Theres a reason for everything, including this so called shorthand version of typing. People do crazy things to save time, including finding ways to type faster. Why do you think court reporters use incomprehensible typing that only they can understand? Cause they get paid to. I don't care for poor english myself, but I'm not perfect and neither are you. Everyone has flaws, so please, get over yourself and stop enforcing something that doesn't even matter.

You folks seem to be under the impression that expressing ones thoughts in a shorter form is a measurement of their intellect. I assure you that is not the case. In fact some of the smartest people Ive ever known could do calculus equations that made me bleed from the ears. These same people would come to me to ask for help writing papers for their composition classes. You cant have it all man. P.S. you guys ever hear of shorthand? I suppose you think thats the devil too.

Forums and MMO's is where you will do it most, and seeing how this is a MMORPG forum, you are going to see it ever so much more. The fact that half of your post doesn't make any sense kinda proves his point. I realise you're not from the US, neither am I, but that doesn't mean everything about correct spelling is related to being an elitist. In your example it's more about readability.
