I was just wondering how many people got the Lifetime Subscription to the game which was $199.

Does this subscription transfer over to the Mines of Moria Expansion too?

Did you get the LotRO Lifetime Subscription?

You still have to buy the expansion if you want but still no monthly fees.

It''s one thing to have a opinion, but enforcing one is unconstitutional.

I've never heard of lifetime subs to those games for regular customers.

I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

as far as I know SOE has never offered lifetime subs

I have the lifetime to LoTRO of course. @ 15 bucks a month I am just now hitting the "break even" mark. I don't mind the yearly paid expansion since I would have bought them one way or the other. The free updates are sweet though :)

I miss DAoC

Ya I did. Due to the fact of the volumes that are coming and the amount of area the free content updates will add and the volumes it seemed like a good deal to me. I think I was right. I now feel alright about playing two games. I mean I will always load in LOTRO but now I can play WH or AoC and have no regrets. I am glad I upped to a lifetime.

No, I will pay monthly, $199 would be a year of gametime.. not sure if I will actually even play that long to make it worth it. Not that there is anything wrong with the game(as a matter of fact I love it), just that I cannot play any game for very long without getting bored.

-Currently playing SWTOR.
-Played UO, EQ, Aion, AoC, WOW, War, LoTRO, FFXI, Rift, DFO.

It is nice to know you have a quality game to play no matter what your budget calls for in the future ;)

I got the lifetime subscription, but I also got a work bonus and figured I would splurge on something for once. I figure I only need 3 more months to essentially break even at $9.99 rate. However, knowing my subscription tendancies I would have surely cancelled and resubbed at $14.99 at somepoint, so I am thinking I am pretty much at the break even point now.

PS: Lifetime subs IMO are better for more casual and loyal players like me who don't play video games for 8 or 9 hours straight, rush to level 50 then swap games. I play this game only and for maybe 45 mins to an hour a night max. You can just relax and take your time playing.

The downside is if you play an SOE game they could change the game drastically at any moment, and in that case a lifetime sub would be a really bad deal.

There are several mmos I'd hand over $200 for a lifetime subscription to, but this isn't one of them. I played LOTRO for a whole week before uninstalling it.

Nor will I ever fork over a sum like that for a lifetime subscription to an unreleased game. You're basically paying for a lifetime subscription based on hype - which is 90% PR smoke and mirrors.

And I suspect the kinds of games that offer these deals do so because they know the likelihood of players subscribing long enough to hand over an equal amount of money is pretty low.

I originally signed up for the lifetime sub, but switched it to monthly before the 1st month ended because I already felt my interest in the game waning.  By the end of the 2nd month I knew the game wasn't for me and I cancelled.

So for me, was not a good deal, but had I enjoyed the game it would have been worth the money.

Lifetimer and playing for free already - still enjoying the game. I don't really mind forking the money over for MoM or other upcoming expansions in the future as it looks we have a devteam with a set goal and means of getting there with minimal hassle.

Playing: Vanguard
Played: UO, DaoC, Horizons, Ryzom, WAR, LotRO, Eve...

I didn't get a lifetime subscription because I knew I was switching to AoC and/or WAR, but AoC was a major disappointment and WAR is shaping up to be just another incomplete game to the list of recent MMO failures, so I'm starting to regret it. When I read about MoM and the features in it, I knew I made a mistake.

Buying the Lifetime sub for LotrO was probably the best deal Ive ever made! Turbine is doin g an amazing job with the game and they show that their is hope in the MMO industry after all...(not all devs are lying jerks)

I played the open beta, the 10 day pre-release and 45 free days (from SE) before I was certain I would get the Lifetime so its not like I was buying it wihout knowing what I would get!

If WoW = The Beatles
and WAR = Led Zeppelin
Then LotrO = Pink Floyd

I bought two lifetime subscriptions and have no regrets.   I don't even think in terms of 'breaking even' if I were to pay monthly.    I justified it by thinking I've wasted $400 on far worse which I've enjoyed far less.

Five things I've received far less return from for money invested:

1) PS3, talk about a major waste of $400.00+  my total play time is around 50 hours and I've owned it a year.   Since I d/l most of my movies, I almost never watch blu-ray, in fact have about ten movies, not even opened.   I even thought of selling it, but really does anyone buy a 60 Gig used PS3 these days?

2) Night out clubbing (several years ago) there have been nights where I would go out with $400-$500 and come back with nothing but a horrible hang over.

3) Everquest, add up the cost of all those crazy expansions, monthly fees, etc, and I spent a lot more than $400 for that horrible excuse for a game.

4)  Various pieces of computer hardware, there have been times I've bought something for the PC and rarely used it.

5)  (1) Ex-wife.   We are talking thousands wasted and far less pleasure gained.

I spent $180 in 6 months on the previous MMORPG I played, Sword of the New World. So rather than spend another $180 in the next six months (probably more, actually, since you could get half price cash shop gold by buying retail copies of the game for $5), I Just switched to this.

And as far as i know there isn't one but i know someone who knows someone who knows someone and got a free account for eq2 and swg and thats how it worked for expansions just had to buy them but my monthly fee was not there just was saying it would be the same with LOTRO is all.
